after neutering... question

okay, so i had my dog neutered last friday. he is a year and a half old. my question is this... once they are fixed, aen't they um... not supposed to hump things?
he never humped anyone's leg or anything but he always 'liked' this one stuffed animal he has. and the other day, he still seemed to 'like' it very much.
is this normal???

Re: after neutering... question

My dog was neutered last February, till this day he is still non-stop humping!!! I asked the vet if this was normal last month, and he told me it could be one of two things. One is that it is purely an act of dominance. The other reason is, it takes a long while for the testosterone in the male dogs to level out. Im hoping it ends SOON!!!

I work at an animal hospital. We usually recommended neutering starting at 6mths before they are 'sexual active' hehe, or mature, however you want to call it...basically before they start building up testatorone(mis spelling) and before they start humping things lol. Since you neutuered ur doggie at a late age it may take a while for him to calm down. It can be one of three things..as the poster above stated
1.U may have to wait for his testasorone to lower.
2. At this point it may be a behavior problem which sorta links into the 3. which is dominance....
Basically, not much you can do....

Re: after neutering... question

My dog was never much of a humper but he did happen to hump another dog about 4 weeks after his procedure. His marking behavior and other male type behavior changed very gradually. He would still hump another dog, given the chance, even though he never did it often.
