After-parties...

After-parties...

my reception ends at 5:30, and I would really like to do something a bit later in the evening with my close friends... I don't want the day to end so early!
I was thinking of having an informal party at the bar in the hotel we are staying, nothing fancy, just some drinks and stuff... (and everyone would pay for themselves, I can't afford to pay for anyhing else)
Do you think I need to call the hotel and ask if we need to make arrangements?

I'm doing that at the Holiday Inn in Ronkonkoma but FI parents are paying for it (open bar and finger foods). This is something we had to discuss with the hotel because it is going to be an open bar and they needed to know who will be part of the party and not just some random person. I would definately talk to the hotel so maybe they can set something up.

Hi - Our reception ends at 5:30 too and we're having our friends meet us at the hotel bar for drinks. We can't afford to do anymore that day, so it will just be a cash bar. We mentioned our idea to the hotel when we set up the room block and they were fine with it. They won't turn away more business!

I love this idea!! My wedding is a late one, over at 11, but the hotel told me the bar is open until 2am. Do I have to warn them that we will have a bunch of silly wedding party guests coming? Or just wing it?

Our reception ended at 6:00, everyone who was staying at the hotel (us included) met in the bar later on and hung out. We didn't let the hotel know, we just showed up and had a bunch of tables. But this bar was pretty informal.
I was afraid people wouldn't want to hang out but a lot did, it was so much fun, we got to talk about the day, look at pictures and visit more with our OOT guests, plus I got to wear my dress for a few more hours!

ETA: We didn't pay for this, it was cash bar and they had free appetizers available.

I would tell the hotel. That is a great place to continue the celebration.

For my cousin's wedding, my aunt and uncle invited everyone back to their house (it was a smaller wedding - less than 100 guests) for some hor d'ouvres, etc. Very casual - nice.

We got a large suite in the Marriott in uniondale it has a wet bar TV area and a Large dining room we will have a party there after with close friends and the Hotel has an extra large bar/Restaurant to accomodate those who will not be at the party in the suite we rented (probably aunts and uncles that want to hang out with our parents)

My wedding will end at 10. My hotel's bar officially closes at 11. . I have to pay for the permit to serve liquor until 2am (80 bucks an hour - not including the actual alcohol!!). I'm trying to arrange for some finger foods to be put out for the guests who want to keep the party going (my hotel has a pool table, darts, air hockey, ping pong), so I really do want to keep the celebration going! But it's a lot of $$!

Same exact thing with me. We'll just gather in the hotel bar. I'll probably mention it again to the hotel staff when the time draws closer, but they seemed fine with it.
