Hi everyone~ my friend is getting married in 2 weeks and wants to have some type of 'afterparty' after her daytime wedding. She wanted to go to the beach but just found out that it closes at sunset...she wants to do something a little different...any ideas? thanks!!!

Not sure if this will appeal to her but what we are doing is a lot of the guests are staying at the hotel (Hyatt Wind Watch) including local guests that night. We are using the lounge for an after party and they have agreed to keep the cabana bar open at their pool if we want them to.

We had ours at my mom's house...she has a nice backyard and a pool and we just had some beer and wine and sandwiches and hung out all night...we did it this way becasue it was convenient for both local and OOT guests and just allowed us to have a nice, reletively low cost, more casual, relaxing end to our day rather than trying to sort out where everyone should go and when they shoud be there...just an idea if you have someone/somewhere that would work...

ours will be in our tiny apartment 17 people in that apartment, is like 17 people in a bathroom... but it will work just fine as long as the vodka keeps flowing

For the FH's best friend's wedding in Charlotte, NC, they had the afterparty at a small bar in the area-pre-ordered kegs and we all went there, got sloshed and had a better time than at the wedding. We will probably do something similar at the local tavern that ahs the BEST pizza in town. LOL will be pretty weird cause it's all linoluem floors and benches and we will be decked out in wedding gear. But we'll have a good time.

me too. that way you can all crash after getting crazy and dont have to drive or walk too far haha. the hotel we are booking for the wedding has an after party option and menu. they have various levels of menus you can choose from and you can hire a bartender just for your party.

They have a nice bar in the atrium, and DH and I will buy the first round. After that, they are on their own. Brunch is on us the next morning.

I think an after party in a hotel suite or something would be nice - thats what my fh and i are thinking of doing - but our wedding is 756 days away - lol -

Huntington Hilton also has a bar, and I haven't been there in a long time, but they used to have a club. I am not doing a party in my suite. Don't want a bunch of people in my room, nor the responsibility of it. Some of the hotels will offer a small reception room to use, but the atmosphere is too business meeting. Plus the cost of the room, the bartender, the liquor, snacks, it just adds up. You also have to guarantee a certain number of people. I'll buy the first round and brunch is on me and DH the next morning, That is why I wanted a hotel that has a bar that is open to the public.

We went back to mine and dh's suite... had tons of beers and pizza... then went to half penny pub in bayshore... it was awsome

hopefully the hilton still has a bar...i think that's the best option. don't think we'll be able to afford a private room, food, bartender....

We will probably just go back to the hotel where everyone is going to stay and have a get together there. We still habe a while though to finalize those details.
