After the bridal shower...

How long after the bridal shower do I have to wait until I can start using stuff? I feel like we're supposed to wait until we're married. I didn't know if there was some sort of rule lol.

Exactly - is it bad luck?!

Are any of you girls waiting until after the wedding or plan on using things before?

FH and I still live separately, that's the only reason we haven't opened anything. We just put a deposit on an apartment last night, and if all goes well, we move in November 1st. We'll start using everything as soon as we move in.

I never heard any superstitions about using things before marriage, I just don't have any reason to open anything yet, haha.

I waited, but there is no rule.
A bridal shower is for the start of your lives together as husband and wife.

I think you're not supposed to start using things because if you don't make it to the wedding you are supposed to send the gifts back to whomever gave them to you. With that being said, FH and I have used our shower gifts with no negative consequences.

After the bridal shower... - Long Island Weddings

I used most of my stuff right away!! We live together in a house and just finished with the kitchen reno at the time of my bridal shower. I think this is a stupid rule. If you have something in a box and you need it use it. It was fun to actually use some of the stuff with FH before the wedding. Some of my stuff i still havent opened or used because I havent had the chance to use it. Bottom line if you need it use it screw the stupid rules lol

I would use it, that's the purpose of new stuff, right :) I am waiting but only because we are moving in 6 months and FH and I will get rid of most of the stuff we have now and start fresh.

All my stuff is still in my mom's basement and I have been married for 221 days. My husband wants to wait until we have a house, but I have used a few things.
