After The Wedding

I have 2 small children and an evening wedding just was NOT going to work for me - so I booked a Saturday afternoon.

We decided to get a bus that will deliver a group of our rowdier party friends from my home in Sayville to the reception Hall in Mt. Sinai.

After the wedding, the bus will take them back here and we plan to have a small continuation of the celebration from the comfort of our own home.. we figure people can hang out and drink more and fall asleep here - or use the time to sober up and drive home (if they imbibed a bit to freely at the wedding).

Now here is the thing... my little guys will be spending the night with my sisters so that Rob and I can have a 'honeymoon night'. He and I will be leaving the house at around 8 to go to the hotel and relax.

We don't mind leaving our friends here without us... we trust them. HOWEVER, we are worried that people might think it is rude to take off?

What do you think?

Let them know a head of time that they are welcome to stay at your house and continue to party, but you and rob will be your going to enjoy your honeymoon.

They will understand. You technically don't have to open your house to them at all...

I agree...DH's parents did an 'after party' and we attended it for all of 10 minutes. We were tired and had a 5am flight the next day. No one was hurt or upset.

I agree too. Our wedding is also on a saturday afternoon, so are going to have an after party too. We don't have any kids...but I know that we will not want to party for as long as our friends do..I'm used to being in bed by 9PM.. So, we are also gonna tell them ahead of time that we will not be staying up ALL night. No one's feelings will be hurt.
