hi guys!!!! well i am new on this board- i've been engaged fo 3 montr about 3 months now & we are going to have our reception at Chateau La mer but the problem is should we have it in the afternoon or evening- i know the evening is better but i feel i lose out on the scenery b/c the reception will start at 7:30 if i do the e vening. I will save so much money if i do the afternoon wedding - what do i do? there's good & bad points about having an afternoon and evening. Lets see well we would have to get the church at 11am & then go to the reception- then take pictures at the reception, evening, church will be at 3pm take pictures at old westbury gardens & the beach from 4-7. But i dont know what to do with my out of town guests since the reception is 45 min away.

Re: afternnon or evening reception
Hi, Congrats I would do the afternoon wedding mainly because fo the price. Once you start to party it doesn't matter what time it is. As far as pictures during the day you can get both outside and inside pics. I know the timing is harder but just start out that much earlier if possible. You can take pics before the ceremony and then during part of the cocktail hour. As far as your out of town guests ask the hotel that you will block rooms in if they have a shuttle. I know the wingate inn supplies shuttles depending on how many rooms are booked or you can pay to have the shuttle service. Whatever you decide I am sure you will have a wonderful wedding

Re: afternnon or evening reception
I LOVE evening weddings, that is why I had mine in the evening. I just feel like it is more of a party atmoshere because it is at night.
Also, for the OOT guests, all you need to do is get a suite at the hotel and bring in catered sandwiches to hold them over til the reception. That is what my MIL did (her family were the OOTers). So while we went to take pics her family went back to the hotel and she had samdwiches and soda at her suite.
I got great pics at my wedding. Church was 3 PM reception started at 7 PM. OOTers loved my hotel and my MIL got a shuttle to take them back and forth, granted it was only a 15 minute ride. But you may want to consider that for your guests as well.
Do not worry about the down time for your guests. It's all part of the deal. They did it for me and I went thru it for 2 of my cousins. They'll find something to keep them occupied.
