Afternoon Wedding

I am having an afternoon wedding in July on the north fork of long island and was wondering if anyone has ideas of what we can plan for our guests to do afterwards???? I am a little concerned about having it done at 6 and having everyone with nothing to do....

We are doing the same...I set up an afterparty at The Best Western East End in Riverhead. One of the only hotels out there with a bar. We blocked rooms there and we are having a morning after brunch.

The new Hilton Garden Inn in Riverhead by the outlets should be opening any day now. Check it out.

Re: Afternoon Wedding

I looked into blocking rooms at the new Hilton Garden Inn and they told me during the summer there is a two night minimum and on holiday weekends, the minimum is three nights!! I have rooms blocked at the Holiday Inn Express in Riverhead. We are having a Friday night wedding and I know the Holiday Inn Express is able to keep their bar open past hours, for a small fee. I know my RH hall will host an after party for us...I am not sure at what cost but it doesn't hurt to ask. My FSIL had a day wedding and then an after party at the Best Western with catered food and it was really nice.

OMG I feel so selfish now! I'm having an afternoon wedding but after FH and I are just going to take a car to our hotel in the city... Oh well!

I am not sure yet what we are doing, Plan to block at hotel for OOT guests (hopefully a lot!) and us for the night-sat afternoon wedding. then have an in promtu afterparty- cannot afford a full out second party and would like it to be more casual

Re: Afternoon Wedding

We're actually having an after party back at my parents home. They did it for both of my sisters and everyone had a blast. We're not wealthy my mother just knows how to budget and bargin shop!

After parties back at hotels are the most common Ive heard of and been too. Call and speak with the hotels event coordinator and they can help make special arrangements for you group at the bar and even for the bar to stay open late.
