My wedding ends at 6 PM on a Saturday. My aunt now is bugging me because the hotel I blocked (because it was nice and close to the hall and because it was very affordable) does not have a bar for all my family members (about 10 people) to hang out all together. Room block is the Executive Inn at Woodbury.
What have past brides/future brides doing about this? She's starting to make me feel like I am responsible for some after party, and keeps saying that no one wants to go to bed at 6 PM.
Suggestions?

Re: afternoon wedding - after party?
My hotel doesn't have a bar either, so I told everyone who is staying, that if they want to party after the wedding, they need to bring a cooler.

Re: afternoon wedding - after party?
our wedding ends at 6 on Sunday. Some peopke will not be going to work the next day. We also do not want the party to end. We asked a friend of ours to host and invite only after party at his home. So that is how we resolved it. It's mostly going to be immed fam, close friends, etc. But he even offered to order food etc. We willl see.

Re: afternoon wedding - after party?
Mine ends at 6 and I want to extend it. My mom keeps saying that we'll be so tired from the long day that we'll just want to go home. At first we wanted to pay to extend the reception by an hour or two...but the RH has another event after ours so that didn't work. Have you considered that? Then we considered telling ppl to go to a bar/lounge after...but then it felt like too much work. If anything, family and close friends usually congregate over my IL's house so we'll probably stop by there. They love to BBQ so we'll probably do that if we still have energy.

LOVE the idea.
Mine ends early, my FMIL is having people back at the house, we'll probably go to coscto and get beer and wine and we were gonna have a hero and salads (but we're still debating that, we think people might be full).

We also have a Saturday afternoon reception ending at 6.
We are basically going to stock our room with booze and mingle between rooms

The cooler idea - that's what my bridal party is doing - don't think one of them was too happy, but I wasn't paying for more drinks for them for later.
Can't extend the reception - we already extended the cocktail hour, and extending the actual reception would just end up costing thousands of dollars we don't have.
Any suggestions for the old folks? No one lives in the area near my hall and my parents are staying at the hotel, so they can't host a party.
Let the insanity begin....

see if there is a local bar in the area, and go and check it out, ask if they can offer party specials if you don't mind it's a public place.
FH and I looked into the bar we go to usually, they said if we used them, they'd do a special, $18 for 2 hours of unlimited beer, wine and wings. We're still thinking about it.

Re: afternoon wedding - after party?
sorry to crash, but does your hotel have a conference room, or a big suite? At a friends wedding last summer their reception ended early, and then they had some finger food in the big suite and everyone brought drinks and hung out there.
