Afternoon Weddings

Afternoon Weddings

Hi ladies,

Due to a tight budget, I'm thinking we might have to go with a Sat/Sun afternoon wedding. I've never been to one so I was wondering--do people still drink and dance as much as they would on a Fri/Sat night??

the afternoon weddings that i have been to, everyone has partied as if it was an evening wedding, you wouldn't have even known it was a daytime wedding. I think as long as you have a good DJ to keep the crowd dancing, the party will go on without a problem

yea , i've never been to an afternoon wedding. Bun one day one of the girls on the board said that they had a blast at her wedding people still drank and danced...not to worry about those things.

I guess the theory is...if you offer people free alcohol, they'll drink it!!

Since we'll be having a lot of OOT guests, a Sunday afternoon might work best.

i am having an afternoon wedding. it was a good way for me to save money in a month i really wanted to get married in (june) and i don't think my family or friends will have a problem dancing and drinking no matter what time of day it is!

I've been to afternoon weddings and people have partied all the same. The partying sometimes continues at a different location afterwards!

Re: Afternoon Weddings

We had an afternoon wedding for a number of reasons. DH was a little worried people wouldn't dance or have a good time, but after our wedding day he said having an afternoon wedding was the best thing we could have done and he is 100% glad we did it. We were able to enjoy the beautiful grounds during our indoor/outdoor CH (a big hit among out guests), people drank and danced like it was nighttime (shots, etc), and then we got to have a really fun afterparty at the OOT hotel. We stayed for 5 hours before leaving for our own hotel, where we had champagne, opened all of our gifts, and...

We had a lot of OOTers and our day went so fast, even with the extra 5 hours at the hotel. It really let us make the most of every second of our wedding day and night. Our friends had a great time too and kept the party going after we left, and some of my local bridesmaids even stayed over at the hotel!

It also let another BM who had to get back to CT that night leave after the reception and get home at a reasonable time without leaving early.

If you have any other Qs FM me

We are having a saturday afternoon wedding with an after party. My brothers both had afternoon weddings and EVERYONE partied. Don't worry about it. You'll get the party you want.

Of course! I dont think time really changes the atmopshere of the wedding that much. Just get a good DJ and everyone will be dancing. Plus you can still have a great after party.
