Age of Ringbearers

Age of Ringbearers

How old is everyone's ringbearer? I have two nephews that will be two years old on my wedding day and my family seems to think that they're too young to walk down the aisle. I'd love to have them be a part of my special day. What are your thoughts?

My ring bearer will be 7. I know they say they go up to about 8 years old. I dont know how young they have them, but try looking on 'the knot.' Good luck!!!

My ring bearers are 5, and we are worried about them. IMO, I think 2 years old may be a little too young. I was at a wedding where a three -year old refused to walk down the aisle, then started crying. While we laughed, I'm sure it was upsetting to the bride. Even the most well behaved child can be unpredictable. Good luck with your decision!

I am not sure about two. I know that you want them involved but it may be tuff. Mine will be three by the time I get married. I am keeping my fingers crossed he'll do it. He super smart but I am afraid he may get stage fright b/c of his age! I will see what happens .. it is not gonna upset me if he cries or doesn't do it! I think he'll be cute!!

My godson will just be shy of 3 by a few weeks when I get married, I dont know if he will walk down the aisle but I will be fine if he doesnt, I really want him in some pics and part of my big day. I am also having a flower girl who will be almost 3 so hopefully they will walk together, whatever happens I will be fine, I am not going to count on them doing it.
So you have to decide what you want, if you are going to get upset if the child crys or runs away dont do it, If it doesnt bother you then go for it, thats my motto.

Age of Ringbearers - Something to consider

Ladies

My son was the rinbearer at my sisters wedding when he was a little over 3. The night of the rehearsal he did fine, but remember the church was empty of guests and there is no music. The day of the wedding CAN be a little more intimidating for them with all the noise, guests, etc. Make sure you have an alternate plan

My nephew was 2 1/2 and walked down the aisle w/no problem at all, holding hands w/the JBM (who was 10). Of course it helped that he fell in love with the photographer (and was also in love with his cousin, the JBM), so that helped!! LOL :) On the other hand, my 2 1/2 yr. old goddaughter, who was the flowergurl, wouldn't walk down the aisle at all, so her father carried her down. At first, it looked like the two of them were going to hold hands and run down before anyone else, and I was all for that, but at the end, she wouldn't do it! (She's got her own mind and is very stubborn.) I was fine with whatever they ended up doing because I knew neither one of them might not go down. Unfortunately, they weren't able to practice walking down the aisle at my rehearsal (along w/the rest of us) due to a WTC memorial that was scheduled at the last minute, so I was a bit worried that they really wouldn't do it the day of because they never saw the aisle before. But then again, that's a chance you take with kids.

It all depends on the child themselves, not just the age. You can have an 8 yr. old, who refuses to go down also. Just don't set yourself up to be disappointed if they don't do it!!!

Mine will be three and a half

The ring bearer and flower girl are both the same age. Some people have told me they will be too young. We'll see what happens! If they run amuck, oh well, it'll be cute.

In my case, my son wound up walking down the aisle with me and the photographer got the most amazing shot (lol he looked like he was peeking out behind me.) My sister was not too thrilled with that. If you can be flexible and not get stressed that they might get 'stagefright' go for it

Our nephew was 19 months and surprised all of us (Long)

Not only did he walk down the aisle perfectly with his sister (our flowergirl, age 4 1/2), but he had a ball at the cocktail hour and reception.

He was up early with the rest of us that morning. Our ceremony was at 4:00. Cocktail hour officially started at 6:30, though the wedding party got to JAs early because of the rain. For the reception, he strolled out with his sister, and my brother guiding them across the dance floor. My nephew came out clapping his hands to the music!

Through the night, my husband and I were amused by watching my nephew make his way around the room. We`d see him emerge from behind one table, only to disappear behind another. And of course, my brother was walking very quickly behind him, looking after him. It was really a funny sight.

My nephew kept going right to dinner, and finally conked out in his high chair as the staff started clearing the tables.

I did have a back-up plan in place, just in case my nephew got scared off by all those people when it was their turn to walk down the aisle. His mother was my Matron of Honor, and she could have taken him down with her. Or we could have had my brother swoop in and take him down.

At the rehearsal, my niece and nephew didn`t go down hand-in-hand together the first time, but they did on the second try. We were all so proud of them. The only 'problem' on wedding day, was he didn`t want to hold the ringbearer pillow. I didn`t think to bring it to rehearsal! But it didn`t really matter to me, so I told them to forget the pillow, and that was it .. he was a little angel! My niece was funny .. she walked down the aisle guiding my nephew with her eyes closed!

I`m so proud of them, and that they were such a big part of the day. The one thing I regret, was that my nephew didn`t really cooperate for pictures at the house prior to the ceremony or in the wedding party shots after the ceremony. We do have him in family shots with his parents, but we don`t have any with just him .. he`s also our godson. But, I didn`t want to upset him, so I didn`t make a big issue out of him having his picture taken .. I was too afraid it might completely change his mood.

You and your family know the kids` personalities. Try to make your decisions based on that. If you choose to include them, just have a backup plan .. just in case! Good Luck!

mine will be 4 but his sister (our flowergirl) will only be 18 months. I'm planning on having them walk down together but I know its likely they may not make it. I'm actually think the 4 year old is more likely to get stage fright - his sister is fearless.
As a back-up plan, they can walk down with their mom (one of my bridesmaids).
Either way they'll be adorable.

Mine will be 7 years old. I don't want to take a chance with the younger ones!

Mine will be turning 2 a week before the wedding...

He's my nephew and both his parents will be in the wedding party. I look at it this way - if he chooses not to go down the aisle alone (no flower girl), I can have him walk down with mom and dad OR not go down at all (it's not like we won't have the rings!). Either way - picturing him in a tux makes my heart melt...sometimes life's little surprises are the cutest and most memorable...Good luck!

My ringbearer will be 2 1/2 when we get married. I thought that he may be a little too young, but his mom my FH aunt thinks he could do it. I think if he holds the flower girls hand he will be ok.

My ringbearer will be almost 4. He'll be walking down the aisle with his 5 year old sister, since she's the flower girl. We thought they might actually make it down the aisle if they were together. 2 years old might be too young. They might see the crowd of people and freak out, and want their parents. But that could happen at any age. I'm not sure, sorry!!! Good luck!
