Aggravated and OVer it

I'm doing my weekly online wedding gown search and I'm noticing that once again the Spring 07 collections are dominated by gowns with pick-ups. They aren't my style and I am finding it hard to find a gown with a top I like that has a skirt with NO PICK UPS!!!!


Does anyone else not like them? Am I the only one?

Sorry, Just felt the need to vent!

(PS- I don't mean to offend anyone...I think that these dresses are lovely, just not my style--I don't need any more volume on my lower half than I already have )

pick ups are not my style and i think looking back its going to be a trendy thing....

and ive said this before and totally got flamed for it, but i dont care. i personally dont like them, especially on me.

eta: you'll be able to find gowns without pick ups in the stores. just tell the salesperson you dont want them!

i thought that I didn't like them until I found my dreammmmm dress by justina mccaffrey WITH pickups!

I can understand if it's not your thing.... and i'm sure you can find TONS of dresses without them! I tried on a few dresses without them that I also really liked -- Where have you been dress shopping?

i've been to Bridal Reflections, the bridal suite of bayshore and angel bridals. I still have to go look at dresses in person, but I like to have pictures to show them what I may like.

I'm looking for something classic but a little different at the same time. I just think pick ups are a bit too trendy. I know I'm not making much sense...lol.

Whatever, I'll find the one..and it may be something I never thought I would like. . .then I'll eat my words. lol

I think that you should definitely stay open to all of the possibilities! I thought I wanted a sleek fitted dress (like of the melissa sweet lace dresses) but ended up falling in love with a hugeeee justina mccaffrey dress with pickups.

I'm NOT a fan of pick-ups AT ALL, however, they make beautiful dresses for certain people. Just not me. I hear ya though, because ALOT of people went with a dress with pick-ups cause it was the 'IN' thing, who knows The majority of Bridal Salons, almost always give you a dress with pick-ups to try on. Atleast thats what happened to me.

i thought i wanted a dress with pick ups .. until i tried it on and when i showed the picture to family and friends they all said i looked like i was wearing whipped cream i personally love the look just not on me ... i went to davids bridal and have had great experiences with them .. and they have loads of dresses with no pick ups .. hth

I feel the same way. I don't care for that style of dress either. I also don't want a satin train because I don't want to bustle it.

This is my dream gown, but no one carries it and i've been told i'm too 'curvy' to pull it off anyway. The dress I'm probably going to get is in my album.

I really like the pick-ups - Just not on me!! I too don't need any more volume anywhere!!!

Keep looking there are plenty of non-picup dresses out there.

NOt my style either.....its very trendy, just like the cotton ball look was in in the 80s.
It is very flattering on some, but not my style either. I am a plain Jane.

i would go to a bridal shoppe where you can try on other dresses... shoppes still carry or 05 and 06 styles that might be more 'you.' good luck....

the magazines weren't helpful to me... the styles were so outrageous and./or you have to be a size 0 for anything to look good... i didn't get any inspiration from them or on-line and just went right to the dress shoppe!

I am getting a gown with moderate pick-ups, I think the key thing is that they are not for everybody,...I am not offended at all...personally I found gowns without pickups looked very boring and typical on me...

I suggest actually going to the store and trying on gowns rather then internet searching...There were many gowns that I picked out online and in magazines that did not look nice on me, sometimes something you think you don't like, actually looks really great...

Hmm..I tried on about 100 dresses...no pick ups in site...they are out there...but i also wanted a non-poofy dress..with very lite material (outdoor wedding in June)..don't be disouraged! Jasmine allows you to customize your dress if you want..may want to check that designer out?

I got my dress at Carmella's in Huntington & actually...she didn't have any pick-ups there....(or maybe she had like 5) So, there are stores out there somewhere....how many places have you been to?

I thought I wanted a dress w/ pick-ups and I tried it on and literally got lost in it....I think it depends on the person and if they could pull it off. I think they make beautiful dresses....just not on me.

It's not my thing, but it does look fantastic on some people that I have seen.

I think I am just too short for that style & when I tried it on I looked like a dollop of frosting

I loved the pick-ups until I tried on a bunch of them, they did not do it for me at all!!!
I still think they are gorgeous, but you have to be able to wear it and I cant
