First let me start off by saying I am OOT and doing alot of planning on the phone and once a month I am in NY:
Last month I contacted a vendor and set up an appointment with them to come by and talk to them. I went to them while I was in NY a few weeks ago, however they were going to write up a contract and mail it to me. After not receiving the contract in a week, I called them to tell them I haven't received it and I was told 'you haven't gotten it because we didn't send it yet, I had a question before we send it.' Ummm ok, they have my phone number, they could have called. I answered their question and asked for the contract to NOW be sent out....that was 10 days ago...still nothing.
Should I continue to try to communicate with this vendor or walk away?
This is a highly reputable LIW vendor by the way, so I am surprised I am dealing with this situation.

Re: Aggrevated with vendor contract!!!
I would call them again, after all this is a very busy wedding time, so a lot of things take longer to happen. if after u calling again nothing happens on their part I would just move on. plenty of other vendors out there that u dont need to chase. JMO.

If they have an email address, I might try typing up an email to them. That way, you can get out everything you want to say without anyone interrupting (I know you just want to get the contract and its not like a lot you have to say but if you want to tell them that you are really dissapointed and the reason why but would like to continue to work with them but #1, you would like the contract immediately and #2, this has put you in a position of doubting working with them). Then if you dont get a response within say 24 or 48 hours hours and they are not completely falling over themselves to aplogize, then I might walk away. I think a big thing is the feeling you get when working with vendors (like that connection that you made with someone there) and if you have to go into your wedding day feeling like you are not totally confident or happy with this vendor, I dont think its the right vendor for you.

Did you make a deposit? If so I would pursue them by phone and email. Also is there someone here who can go down to their office for you and get on their case? If not I would move on, there are so many great vendors here I wouldn't waste my time on one who is so unresponsive to you right at the outset!! GL!

i'm from oot also and going through a lot of stress too but we've been dealing a lot with the fax machine. so far all of our vendors, RH, video, photo, DJ have faxed us the contract to look over and sign and fax back. you should see if thats an option for you too! sorry, i know its not easy to deal with all the stress of wedding planning and not being in NY to plan it all!

Give them one more try, and then give up. I know it's the busy season + this weekend was probably crazy busy, but you want your vendors to get back to you in an appropriate amount of time despite the season.
I had a somewhat similiar situation with a popular LIW vendor, and I just said forget it and stopped trying.
