Agh where does it stop

Agh where does it stop

Tell me when the spending of $$ stops. We spent 6k in one week and I dont even know on what.

I feel at this rate we will eat through our reserves for emegencies.
Does anyone else have this fear that a house may put you in the poor house

oh yeah

When we first moved into our new home we said we would only purchases necessary items. We still spent thousands in the beginning.

We have been here now going on 3 months and it gets better. We rarely need anything for the house now.

We have empty rooms but its not a necessity to fill up the entire house with furniture so quickly.

it is going to seem to be really overwhelming in the beggining but its been almost a year for me and now its finally leveling out and we arent spending as much money.

I wish I had a reserve for emergencies! After renovating three houses (two which we rent out) I haven't had a reserve fund in years - and every day brings a new emergency!

The house we just went onto contract on needs 3 new baths, a new kitchen, new wiring, new diningroom ceiling, all new paint, hardwood floors refinished upstairs. the bathrooms and kitchen alone are $100,000.

The house is an original 1971 older than many of the people on this site.

It seems to never stop. i am begining to regret this house... Mine was built in 1928. We just had to replace the front door last week. What a headache. It is not standard size. We either had to buy a slab door, stain it and seal it and then cut it down or buy a custom door (upwards of 700$) I spent all last week staining! Now it is up but very drafty... So now I need to buy weather stripping...

It just doesn't end... I am feeling really sad about it today.. Can you tell?

We've been in our house 2 1/2 years now. You do it slowly. We are just getting to window treatments, but we are still going to do some windows over, front door, patio and upstairs bathroom/laundry room

More painting has to happen and moulding has to be installed. The downstairs bathroom is so large we have cutting it in half and are making a pantry.

Out door lighting, update the electric, pour a new slab for the garage..

Would love central air..we'll see.

We have a list and we have done some things, but you still have to have money to live. We have our whole life to fix up the house..

Ok..here is our story.
We only have a little over 16k saved for emergencies and I feel like its not enough.

our place is sparsely decorated and we're doing projects very slowly to avoid depleting our funds. i wish we could hurry up time, i hate being patient...my house is so plain.

I think you'll be fine!!! It always looks worse than it really is.

I'm refinancing now too and saving some money by consolidating some old debt...all good.
