no... but i would say it depends on the person.. single guys usually dont mind going places alone.. women are different.. ive gone to wedding solo.. but it was family, dont know if i would have gone to a wedding for a friend when i only knew a few people.

We only invited our friends/family that are in serious relationships or who are married with guests.

I would agree it depends on the person, I am NOT inviting everyone over 21 with a guest.

It depends on the person, if they were close to us and if they were in relationships AND if they were going to know a lot of people at the wedding was a big factor!

The only people we aren't inviting with guests are a few of my single coworkers & then people who told us point blank that they wouldn't be bringing anyone and not to bother putting 'and guest'..

My coworkers all live in NYC and don't have cars so they would be each other's dates anyway.

Out of the 288 total invited, maybe 10 are invited alone.

Pretty much the same situation. We are inviting most people with a guest, except for 3 of my friends who said that they did not want to be invited with a guest because it was too much 'pressure' for them, LOL.

For us personally unless they were family, bridal party or seeing someone it was a no. I think it's obnoxious to bring someone just for the sake of bringing someone. It's like...why do you need to bring someone if you know people? I personally am always the 'friend' who gets the call saying 'I need a date for this wedding' and I'm like 'why do you NEED a date? You know your whole table who the heck do I know, why am I coming?'

Our neighbor on the other hand just knows Dan's family so we invited him with a guest.

On the other hand though, for our OOT guests, I invited ALL of them with a guest because like for my friends driving in, I wanted them to have the company and stuff or at least the option.

It's TOTALLY up to you, I'm sure everyone does something different but personally I didn't see a need for it. We're having about 75 people and I don't need it to turn into 125 because people got a +1.

We are inviting everyone with a date. I was single forever and if I was invited to a wedding and wasn't dating anyone seriously, I would go alone. The only time I brought someone with me if it wasn't serious was if I didn't know anyone else at the wedding. We don't have a lot of single guests, but for those that are single, I am letting them use their own judgment about bringing someone.

We invited people in serious relationships with guests, my BMs and GMs with guests regardless of their situation, and people who wouldn't know many other people at the wedding. Like my friend from PA who will only know his parents.

Also anyone over 40 who is single got invited with a guest, maybe even 35.

We invited everyone with a guest. I didnt think it was my place to decide if their relationship was serious or not.

I did and I really regret it...

One of our friends who is single is bringing his brother.. his brother didnt get an invite for a reason so I think its rude to bring him as his 'date'...

Another one of his friends wants to bring a girl he met once (i unfortunately met her too) and she was a total white trash drunk train wreck.. I mean she had to be picked up off the floor after she threw up on herself.

Re: ahh the 'and guest' question

We invited all our single adult friends (who happen to be 30+) with a guest. No single relatives where invited with a guest unless I knew their girlfriend/boyfriend. I figured relatives all know each other and so don't need a date.

We also don't have very many single relatives since I am one of the last people in my family to get married.

We only invited people that were engaged, living together or in a serious-long term committed relationship with a guest. We are having a small wedding and are paying for it ourselves.

So far I only had one person that wasn't invited with a guest send back the response card with a +1 on it. Personally, I think it is very rude to do that especially to do that and not call me before sending the response back with the +1 to ask if it is ok. The person that did this was a good friend of mine and over the past few months our relationship has been strained but at this point I am not going to contact her and tell her she can't bring the guest. What I am going to do is email her in a few weeks to find out who it is so I can put that persons name on the place card.
