Yea but I feel sooo mean doing that. I'm actually one of those people that totally adore my step kids. I know he's going to be bored and then FH is going to feel guilty and be distracted and rush me out of there and it's going to be a mess. I just know this. From all perspectives, I am trying to avoid chaos that day.

Does he not want you to try to be a nice person anymore???? Tell him the nice-ness is going to stop if he doesn't cut the sugar!!!

He's 15 and always out with his friends and stuff. He's going to be bored out of his mind.

Yes he will, I have a 15 year old daughter. Maybe he could spend the weekend with a friend or, he could bring his playstation/xbox whatever with him and barracade himself away from the girls. Or you could 'pay him' (bribe ;) ) to be your helper that day.

Re: AHH This day gets better and better
He is a really great person and in all honesty I wouldn't need to bribe him to help, he would do it. He can't come to the shower and FH will be there for about the first hour then come back later and all my family will be coming by the house after. It just seems like an obligation where he really doesn't need to be there so why make him sit thru it. I feel like the evil witchy stepmom doing that. I'd rather know he's home having fun and no worries. Maybe I am being a little selfish because I want that peace of mind but I think I am entitled to it. no?

No, I see your point. Why is she upset because you want to leave him at home? How far away is home? I know they don't act like it at this age, but they actually do want to be included. Tell him that you don't want to torture him with all thats going on but, you would love to have him there. If it isn't too far away from home I would let him stay if he absolutely wanted to. But, I am sure you will do the right thing, if you didn't care it wouldn't be stressing you out so much! Good Luck!

Re: AHH This day gets better and better
he can't bring a friend or anything b/c his kids like 2.5 hours away down in South Jersey from us in North Jersey, PLUS my mom's is another 1.5 hours EAST in Long Island. Soooo....on top of everything , i'd be subjecting him to that ride. I am willing to give up the weekend b/c I know he'll be home playing with his friends and that will give me peace of mind so I won't be sad that he's not going to be there. This way, everybody wins.
I should have stated this from the start....FMIL is only coming up for the weekend (which WE are flying her up!!!!!) so she's being selfish and now she wants to see him so she's insisting we bring him and ruining MY Plans!!

That stinks! Don't worry about the venting that is one of the great things about this site. You can come on here and vent away! We will gladly listen!
Can FH's son come to the shower?

Unfortunately no, it's a ladies shower. Maybe we should change it to a Jack & Jane just to convenience his mother!

Well....he was in agreement with me but now he's feeling guilty which is pissing me off a little bit i must admit lol b/c we had a plan and now he's changing it. Of course, it's his kid and he's not going to want to lose the weekend with him. Neither do I. But I think they get dragged thru so much and to make him sit at my mom's house?? I feel evil. I can't help it.....it's really bugging me.
