Sooo, FH and I went to CLM today and FELL IN LOVE!!!!! I love the downstairs ballroom, love the outdoor ceremony area, cocktail hour, love Nick, love the package, and they gave us an amazing deal.
The thing is they were all sold out for the downstairs room in July and August (Fri and Sat evening).
He had Oct 1, and we both thought that would be great. On the way home, I remembered my friend is getting married that day. :(
The other option is Oct 29. Do you think late Oct will be too cold to do the ceremony outside, and have the outdoor cocktail hour?!?!
I'm sooo sad. We both went in and felt this is the one. It was the second place we went too, and we still have a list of places we are going to, but I fell in love and the price that he gave us CAN NOT BE BEAT. What do you girls think????

Have you considered doing it in September?? It's still warm then and you should be able to have your outdoor CH. Also, what about a Sunday night in the summer? As for Oct 29 ,obviously no one knows. October is insane with weather. This tool might help a little: http://www.almanac.com/weather/history/NY/New%20York/2008-12-20 You can check what the temperature was on that date going back many years. It will atleast give you a range of what the temperatures might be. Good luck !

What about a May date. I had beginning of May and we had outside CH and the 2 weeks before were hot and they had outside CH and ceremonies.

CLM is booked in the room we want for July/August/Sept otherwise I would book it in Sept. Great month.
I would do May and they have a spot, but my sister will be in another country until June. Thanks!

You know just as food for thought....
We got engaged last Christmas - we had started looking around online at places & had originally emailed & called CLM about a Sat night wedding in Aug...they had nothing available. I called again 2 weeks later to ask about doing possibly a Fri night & was told they had a Sat night avail - that they ended up having a cancellation b/c the groom was in the armed forces & was being deployed to Iraq sooner than planned - so we ended up being able to have them put a hold on the date until we could get to see the place & the room (which was a week later). We did book it right on the spot b/c we were in with the place.
How many guests are you anticipating? I know you are in love with the downstairs room, but we had ours in the upstairs(Bayview) room & it was so beautiful! I do know they told us at CLM that the upstairs room could accommodate up to 180 guests.
Just some food for thought. You may want to ask them to book you for 10/29 & wait it out a few weeks & ask them if they happen to get any cancellations for July or Aug to please call you as that would really be your 1st choice. You still have plenty of time - so give it some thought!
& BTW - food is AMAZING (our guests still talking about it 4+months later) & we also had the Viennesse Hour...OMG...it's simply to die for!

P.S. We originally booked & dealt w/Tino (also excellent) but then towards the end dealt w/ Nick who also ended up being our Maitre'D for the night - he was FANTASTIC! Ask for Jessica to be your BA(Bridal Attendant) - she was superb! & Ask for Jerry/Gerry (sp?) for your bartender - you will not be disappointed - he apparently makes some wicked cosmos & martinis that my guests are still telling me they are the best they've ever had!
