AHHHHHH!!!

AHHHHHH!!!

I am ready to smack some people. One of my BM's is annoyed that her son can't come to the RH. She was like since he is a ring bearer he should be there and I'm like if we invite him we have to invite 17 other kids..NO! I even said if its that big of a deal he doesn't have to participate in the wedding. Our church is at 2:30 in her hometown and the RH starts at 7:30. I don't think its the big of an issue if her mom or dad picks him up at 3-330 and watches him for 1 night they do it all the time.

And then FMIL says no kids isn't going to work what is the family supossed to do with the kids. Umm they have 13 months to figure it out and its not like they don't have family on the Island who all have babysitters and its not like the hotel doesn't have a babysitter.

Should I put on my STD's adult only reception or is that tacky?

Adult Only isn't tacky on the invite, on the STD not so sure

I don't know about putting it on the STD...it's common on invites, but not so much on the STD...might get people thinkin' negatively, you know?

Ummmm sorry, but if he is the ring bearer, I think he should be at the reception. JMO. He's part of your wedding party.

We are only inviting 3 children....the two ring bearers and the flower girl. They are the exception to the rule since they are in the wedding party.

We are doing NO children as well, except for the Ring Bearer. Then again he is my only Nephew and FH doesnt have any neices or Nephews. So there is no controversy with him.

He is one of the ringbearers, the other ring bearer is my nephew who is 1 of 3 and my neice is the FG who is also 1 of 3 so that would be 7 children that would HAVE to be invited and if they came then everyone else would assume their kids could come even if we said No children. We either have to do all children or no children because it will start a war in FH's family. They are very sensitive and would feel slighted.

Oh, I missed the part about the ring bearer...yes, I absolutely feel that he should be included in the reception! He's a big part of your day!

I wish it were that easy but if we invite him we would have to invite all children. FH's family is adamant about this and we can't afford an additional 17 children nor do I want them there.

If you and your FH are paying for the wedding, then you guys call the shots.
Does he already know that he's the ring bearer?

It doesn't matter whether we are calling the shots or not. FH's family will bring their kids. If they get to the RH and see another child there they will leave the RH, go get the kids and bring them back, they have done this before. He's only 3 so I don't think he realizes he is in the wedding.

Oh my!
You may want to consider not having a RB then. I wish I had better advice

We are having all 5 of our little nieces and nephews in the BP, and they are the ONLY children invited. The invitations will say there is an 'Adult Recepion' following!

I agree. The only child at our wedding is the ring bearer and it's up to his parents what they wanna do with him.. take him home before RH, bring him and leave early, whatever. But he's invited b'c he's in the bridal party. Other than that, no one's kids are invited. I think most people will understand if they see that the only kids at the RH were IN the wedding, they shouldn't get upset.

ETA: Wow, that's ballsy that people would just show up with the kids. I just saw that part...

You can explaint his situation to the parents... if the family is all that close that they would leave the RH to get their kids, then maybe his parents are close enough that they can arrange to have himt aken home and left with a sitter after the ceremony? Man, why are people so damn difficult??

ETA2: LOL, except I have no memory and you said this was the plan already and your BM has a problem with it which was the point of the post to begin with... LOL, just ignore me, I'm ridiculous.
