Original post by shellnroc
I wanted to get opinions on this. Which stays on better? You want to make sure your makeup stays on all day and night for your wedding. Opinions please???

Wow...airbrushing sounds wonderful. Are any of you using someone that comes to your house?
Both of the airbrush trials I went on come to the house...I would try Marie Katz she is really great--the trial though was at her house.

Where is she located? Also how much was the trial? Did she seem to be the most affordable?

Denise from Angel Eyes and Jacqueline Nicole do airbrushing also.
I booked w/ Denise, she does trials at her home for $30 (traditional or airbrush) and day of its $125 for the bride for airbrushing and $100 for traditional.
It all depends on the application of the makeup, if its too heavy its cuz they put too much on..Denise didnt even go near my brows!

I have an appointment this Saturday for my first trial. I'll let you know then. I heard it is incredible. Mom booked the appointment for me, so I don't know who it's with, but the recommendation came from a bride who said she woke up the morning after her wedding and her face was still in place!

I think I may be the only one who doesn't like airbrushing. It made my little laugh lines and crow's feet more pronounced.
I had a different trial with regular makeup and it was blended so beautifully and looked more natural on me.

I feel that airbrushing is too cakey and heavy. If you have bad skin it can cover a lot up and look nice, but if not you don't need it. I used Jillian from Gorgeous Faces and she uses all natural mineral based makeup that is so light and natural. She did my makeup around 830am and it was still on at midnight when I got to my hotel room! I loved it!

I had an airbrush makeup trial with Maureen Pedala that I really liked. But when I contacted another makeup artist (Stacy from Once Upon a Bride) and asked if she did airbrush, she told me that she feels brides are misinformed about airbrush makeup.
She said that while it's great for TV, airbrush is not the best for print photography and doesn't give you the most natural look. She said that with traditional makeup, you can blend colors to match exactly and the your forehead will generally be a different shade than your jawline and airbrush makeup doesn't account for that. I thought that was interesting.
I have a trial with her in a couple of weeks, so I'll keep you girls posted!

It really depends on your skin AND the Makeup artitst. - I had it done by 2 different artists. - The first, put it on SO thick and sprayed me with that thing for a least 5 minutes AFTER caking me in concealer. - I have good skin, normal to a little dry - But THIS girl made me look like I belonged in the circus. - The second was the woman I am using - Maureen Pedala. - She used the airbrush a little bit heavier in some places - Like under my eyes and my chin (which was a little red) other than that, she just used a very light spray to even my skin tone........... - It looked and felt like I had NOTHING on my face at all......I personally love it. But you REALLY do have to try it.

While searching for a make-up artist for my wedding, I found that the artists who do not do airbrushing had horrible things to say about it. Airbrushing allows the artist to mix colors, so I'm not sure why the above artist made it sound as though that wasn't possible.
I think that some love airbrushing while others don't. It's really a matter of personal taste. I loved my airbrush trials and would not consider traditional for my wedding (I had several trials using both application methods).
What bothered me most was finding the plight against airbrushing by make-up artists who don't offer the service.

Marie Katz is in East Northport right off Jericho which wasn't far at all. Her trial was $45. I went to Jackie from Imakeyouup and her trial was in Massapequa off Sunrise Highway and was $55 I think. Marie Katz was the most reasonable for airbrush

Like I said before, I had airbrushing done and loved it. It wasn't cakey at all...it was so light and natural looking. The one big plus about airbrushing that I really liked was that it doesn't rub off...so when you go to hug someone you don't have to worry about smuging their clothes. I used Marie Katz and she was great. I highly recommend her.

Nicole, I saw your make up trial picks. Wow, you look really good. Did she come to your house for your trial? Thanks for the advice on booking a make up artist early, I would of never thought that. Thanks
Thanks I think she did a great job. Her prices were reasonable. I didn't realize how fast some make up artists book up. I was lucky she had my day free and that I was able to get a weekend trial.
