Airbrush Tan - uh oh

Airbrush Tan - uh oh

So I went for an airbrush tan on Friday. I had a professional body scrub beforehand to make sure I didn't have any blotches. The tan looked great but...

I wore a white dress to my shower on Saturday. The sides of the dress ended up with my spray tan all over them. The inside of my upper arms was the obvious culprit. I showered Saturday morning, before the shower, but the tan still rubbed off on my dress.

I am so worried about having this happen on my wedding day. Does anyone have any tips?

Crashing! This is my big fear too (in general). I'm so pale and it's really hard for me to get tan (plus the whole skin cancer aspect of tanning in a booth isn't very appealing to me) but I went to Oasis tanning in miller place and the girl recommended a bronzing bed (ultra bronze supernova I think it was called)- it's basically all bronzing bulbs so the risk of burning is minimal. I tried it and I was super tan in about 4 or 5 sessions. The only thing is it's pretty expensive- about $120 for 4 or 5 sessions (which to me is a little expensive) but it was worth it. HTH!

It will happen on your wedding day ... but it will not be noticeable. Mine was only on the inside of my dress, and I think it's only because I was sweating so much. I had about the same amount of time between the spray tan and my wedding as you.

When did you go? How long before the wedding?

I'm not concerned about the color rubbing off on the inside. My problem was that it was rubbing off on the OUTSIDE! Ugh, I'm nervous.

I think I went about 10 days before my wedding, to a tanning salon in Smithtown. There was no smudging on the outside of my dress at all. Make sure you do all the moisturizing they tell you to do.

I would not do it. It's not worth it, I used to do airbrush tanning (on clients). It can be a real mess if it's not done correctly.

I'm an Esthetician and the worst thing they say for your skin, is tanning. However, it's your wedding and you want to look tan so I say go tanning just for this time. It's not like you are tanning all year round.

i went to beach bum for a custom spray tan (not for my wedding)

she told me to avoid the tan from rubbing off, that i need to shower first thing in the morning after the spray tan, but just do a rinse with water, no soap or products

then a few hours later to take a real shower

I have not noticed the tan rubbing off on anything

i have to agree with the other girls tho, that id prob not want to risk it...id just go tanning a few times in a bed before the wedding, its only a few tans and not something youll be doing constantly

I appreciate all of the advice. Unfortunately, I just don't get tan in tanning beds. I' have the same problem in the sun. It just takes eons for me to get color. This is such a source of frustration. If it had just been the inside of the dress, I wouldn't care. Ugh

I used to have the same problem. I burned every time I went in the sun.

One year, I was so nervous getting in the tanning bed but I went in for like 5 minutes, every day for a week and built it up to 8-10 etc... I was SHOCKED that I was able to get tan!

The lotion helps. I also shut the lights off on my face and wore bronzer to even it out. I would also put a towel down under my back for the first 2 minutes so I wouldn't burn on my back.

As someone who had a Malignant Melanoma at the age of 19 after using a tanning bed 3 times, I say it's not worth it to use a bed.

I have done the Beach Bum Airbrush for 3 seperate occasions now, and have never had a problem with it rubbing of on the outside of any dresses I wore for a wedding party.

I was told to give the tan about 8-10 hours to set (so obviously get it at night) and then shower using gentle soap, no loofah or anything to rinse the excess off and then the last like 45 seconds of your shower turn the water to FREEZING cold, because it closes up your pores and locks the color in. (kind of like the cool setting on your hairdryer closes the cuticles of your hair).
