i really want to have some color before my wedding, but it probably won't be hot enough outside, and i'm not so into tanning salons. and i'm afraid of putting self-tanner on myself cause i know i'll screw it up.
has anyone done airbrush tanning? what is it and does it work?
thanks!

Re: airbrush tanning - has anyone done it?
Hm. I have done the kind at 'Hollywood tans' where you go in a booth and a mist sprays on you for like five seconds and you have to do this weird ceremonial dance to get it all over your body, then you have to wipe off areas that are not usually tan afterwards so that you do not look like a streak-freak.
I wouldn't recommend it.. it was fairly expensive (20) for one time only, and it really didn't look all that natural. I have used MANY different types of self-tanner, and the one I WOULD recommend is this thing called 'tan towel'. It is just a towelette, like one you would use to wipe your hands after a good rib-eatin, but larger. You just wipe it all over your body after you shower/exfoliate. It has given me the most natural fake tan, without streaks, that I have gotten from any product. I was skeptical at first, but it is so darn easy, non-messy, and the best part is that it doesn't get on your clothes and you can get dressed immediately afterwards. I bought my package from home shopping network, but I have seen them sell it in sephoria. I would buy it from there to see if you like it, then get the package from HSN (it is cheaper through them.
fm me if you want more info.

This was a BAD experience.. I would definately NOT recommend it before your wedding. They actually said not to do it before your wedding, the color still came off on my clothes days after I had gone and done it. Could you imagine it on your wedding gown OMG
I would go tanning before I would do that again.... JMO
I didnt care for it too much either. I wiped off too much and got weird streaks and then it looked like I was eating cheese doodles b/c i had orange around my nails.

Re: airbrush tanning - has anyone done it?
i have gotten it done twice - i had really good results and it lasted for about 5 days however when it started to wear off my face was slightly lighter then my body b/c i wash my face more and use more products. also it wore off a little on some of my white clothes a little but not too bad and it came out. so while i had a good experience i am glad i did trials before the wedding b/c i don't plan on doing it for the wedding b/c i did not want to risk the color coming off on my dress and being blotchy on the honeymoon! the tan did look natural and very even.

ok - I can save you a ton of money. Go buy the Decelor self tanning spray and do it yourself (have someone help you with your back. (orange spray can)
I started using it on the Wednesday before my Saturday wedding. The stuff is incredible. It is $34 but the can is an airbrushing can so very little comes out each time. I swear I have tried 20 self tanners and this one is by far the most natural. You will not get streaks because it is so fine. You do have to use it about twice a day until you get the color you want (I was scared so I did a little at a time but was so thrilled with the results and everyone thought I had been at the beach). I have very fair skin by the way so if you are dark - this might not be enough. It will give you a great glow though.

I would try a salon who does it - Like Paul LaBrecque (?) or one Bliss, or someplace like that. They are usually around $65 or so. It may seem like a lot, but in the big picture it's not.

I went to Rain Day Spa, and they do a 'fake tan'. it is not airbrush, the girl exfoliates you first and then rubs on the lotion, but because she is doing it, it comes out even and looked really nice. But, you leave the salon looking like Magda from Something about Mary, because you have really dark cr@p all over your body until you rinse off the next morning. Good luck! I wanted to find a salon that did airbrush, but (shamefully) i have been tannning at a salon. I cant find a airbrush salon on LI (Im sure there is one somewhere)
