Has anyone had an airbrush makeup trial but then chose to do regular makeup application for the day of instead?

Re: Airbrush VS. Regular Makeup
My MakeUp artist informed me that you have to have just the right amount of moisture and all that in order to get airbrush...otherwise it can start to look flaky. My trial was the first time I ever got air brush, and boy oh boy do I loove it. It's soo light...don't feel like you're wearing it. And it looks soo natural. I got some pics in my album...

No, I opted for the airbrush because my traditional trial didn't provide enough coverage, and I have pretty bad skin.

Re: Airbrush VS. Regular Makeup
i didnt have the situation you asked about. But i have had make up professionally done in the past and had regular make up done quite a few times. When it came time for trial i knew i wanted airbrush and stuck with that decision.
Have you had a trial with either?

Re: Airbrush VS. Regular Makeup
I just had a regular makeup trial which I did like. I am going to do an airbrush trial with Jacqueline Nicole in April, bc she doesn't take 2010 brides before then. So I put down the $50 deposit for the regular makeup artist just to hold someone. It's actually Oksana bc I feel like she may book quickly and this is very important to me. Plus to lose $50 compared to the whole wedding cost isn't that big of a deal. I just have this feeling now that I'm prob going to love the airbrush and then have to back out which really will be fine.
However, this is how Oksana explained the airbrush and I do trust her and loved her a lot.
She said that she can do airbrush and that she does it for runway shows because it is quick and easier. She said in reality putting the foundation on by hand is more tedious and you can use more colors where as airbrush just allows one. I don't know anything about this myself it's just what she told me. She basically said she wouldn't feel comfortable walking away from a bride who she did airbrush too. I mean obviously brides love it and it has worked out great I just don't know yet what's best for me. Just impatient to wait until April, that's why I'm asking for feedback. I do like JN's work, hence why I'm waiting for her and her prices were reasonable.
Also, with my skin I remember you (espo) saying how you broke out the week before from stress which can def happen to me and how grateful you were for the airbrush makeup. Do you think regular application makeup can cover like that? However, knock on wood I have pretty good skin, I mean besides maybe coloring or dry from tanning say, I really rarely have a pimple. I have never worn foundation bc I never really had to. So I am hesitant to do too heavy of a makeup but I def want something to be way noticeable bc as a bride I def want the makeup to be really nice, big eyes etc. I have pics of the trial but just haven't put them up, maybe I should?

I think I am going to use regular makeup, only because I've been using mineral foundation for so long I am not sure how my skin would react to airbrush.

well here is what i can say about the whole airbrush thing. First of all even when they do airbrush they still use a bit of real make up. For example under your eyes and on other spots they can use regular and then put airbruh over it. So you can use more colors on your face since it can be mixed with regular. BUT also know that airbrush used on runway shows is different than that used for a bride. On runway shows, in magazines and that sort of stuff they use silicone based airbrush, for a bride they use waterbased so its a bit different.
For me, maybe bc my skin is dry but ive also had regular make up done while i had a break out and no doesnt cover it up and in some ways makes it noticeable alot more bc becomes dry and crusty bc of the make up. Even for e-pics i had one pimple and had regular make up done but didnt really cover it all that much. But again can be bc of my skin type.
I say just try both and see what you like best. Everyone is different so who knows what you might like best.

That said, I have pretty good skin so i do not need heavy coverage and in person I prefer regular. Airbrush does photgraph well on me but the truth is that I just look more natural in regular makeup. I always look a little shiny airbrushed. It is a personal thing.

Yes, that's true. Also, bc of your previous help I did make sure that JN uses a water based foundation and she does, so thank you for that too!!

you're welcome, yeah i would think most who do bridal make up would use water based, well i would hope they dont use silicone.
Good luck, and just go for whatever you like best. I think skin type really matters, i also have very dry skin so bc of that i feel like regular make up ends up looking flakey and cakey on me. Unless i use a bit of moisturizer first which i hate to use too much of it bc then my face is so hot with the moisturizer and make up over.

Re: Airbrush VS. Regular Makeup
I have had both done and like both of them the same. Airbrush (did this for my sisters wedding)is only done on your foundation....ie eyeshadow and liner is still applied normally. I was under the assumption that everything was airbrushed when I went but guess I was wrong..lol!
I did regular makeup for my wedding.

Any particular reason why you chose regular for your wedding?

I thought airbrush was too expensive but I think it is almost the same as regular! Anyway, I guess I didnt look into makeup that much - I just used my salon because I knew they did a good job. I can post pics of the airbrush if you want.

Re: Airbrush VS. Regular Makeup
I had a trial with regular and airbrush. The airbrush almost felt like it was covering my skin too much. My MU artist recommended regular for me since she said I didnt need to much makeup and it would look more natural on my skin. She does MU for shows and she uses it for that but on wedding days she prefers to use regular MU on her clients. I think its a personal preference. My fiance preferred the regular mu to the airbrush so that made my decision for me.

Okay great thank you for the input. I guess I will just compare my two trials then. I just felt like the opinions on airbrush were so biased to loving it that I just wanted to see if there were any opposing opinions out there.
Thank you!

take everyones opinion for what it is but dont go by just what everyone says. Honestly i think there are too many factors to decide which is better. Will depend on your skin tone, also has ALOT to do with make up artists and depends on the person who is giving you their opinion. You can have someone who went and did a regular mu trial and airbrush but just so happens that the regular make up artist was just better at make up period, i think it depends ALOT on who you use whether its regular or airbrush. Maybe the person who preferred the airbrush just had somebody who was more skilled overall so really depends. And theres more to make up than just foundation will depend how they do eyes too and make the whole look. Some make up artists are just not that great. Even before i ever tried airbrush and had just regular make up done professionally, i can say that they were ALL so different almost each time. I had regular make up done that i liked and some that I HATED!!!!! and it was all regular make up, some made me look cakey and put way too much on and used horrible colors on me that didnt go well while others did nice make up that complimented me and didnt look cakey. So i think it comes down alot to who you use, like i said even with same type of make up i had such mixed results. Whether you do airbrush or regular, if somebody applies too much foundation with either type its going to look bad no matter if they applied too much foundation with the airbrush or regular make up.
