Airfaire Help!

I am trying to book a domestic flight in October. Any helpful ideas, suggestions and I would be very grateful...Traveling with the three of us is getting to be out of this world (money-wise)!
Hoping maybe some of you Ladies have some ins- and outs tips.
Thank you Ladies..

Check out kayak.com. They scan all different websites for best airfare. Also apply for a AAdvantage card or other miles program. I use airline miles and will be flying roundtrip New York to California for free.

i second kayak-it lets you see all the differt airlines and compare the prices.
Also check out travelocity.

Consider booking one-way flights. IF the price is lower on say Airline 'A' leaving but cheaper coming back on airline 'B' book the two flights seperatly so you get the best deal!

third for Kayak.

you can also try going out of Newark or even Westchester (islip too but I have no experience with that airport). Flights can be cheaper if you dont mind the extra travel upfront/after or if you can have someone drop you off.

i would also recommend kayak. we used it to book our honeymoon including all the between island flights & everyone has told us that we got such a great deal.

also if you can try to book on off days. like Tuesday or Wednesday rather then a Friday or Saturday.

I would wait a bit longer.

Sale fares usually don't extend that far into the future; even if the airline is selling those airfare already.
For example, Airtran. When they run their sales which is usually during mid week (Mon night and sales usually end by wednesday nights). As of last night their sale fares are only extending into end of May. So 3 months into the future.
I would subscribe to Travelocity farewatchers and find out which airline is the cheapest for your arrival and departures. Subscribe to their newsletters for their sale rates.

I'm not planning to purchase my HM (Sept) till like May because I believe I will get the best price then.

GL!

And oh! After you have found a cheap fare. ALWAYS always go back to that airlines own website to check their rates for the same flight. More often than not it's cheaper to purchase it directly from their site.

Sites like SideStep, Orbitz, Travelocity, Kayak are great for researching rates but I hardly ever actually purchase directly from them.
