airtrain out of service

I dont know the whole story, but FI just got home and told me he was leaving work and their were lights and police activity and they said due to an emergency situation that was reported the airtrain is out of service. All employees were to take the employee shuttle bus which was suppose to be out of service as well b/c of the airtrain.

If anyone sees an article or hears anything on the news please post.

O NO I hope everything is ok. Today is only the first day running. Remember that poor guy died on it.

It was running for only 9 hours and something happens.

I've been checking all the news websites, but I think b/c it just happened it's not up yet. FI and I have on NY 1 news hoping something will be said.

geez, we can put a man on the moon but we can't get a train to run smoothly??? go figure!!

I just checked news on google news and nothing about a problem is coming up...they probably don't want it reported yet.

Maribelle I think you are right. I dont think they want this out b/c I think no one would use it if they knew they shut down for an emergency situation.

An emergency could be a number of things.

That man who died was going too fast and was undertrained (like no training). I don't think they are dumb enough to do that again. I was shocked it was back so soon. I have every confidence in this system, in the same way I do the LIRR, which isn't saying a whole lot but there you are.

If it didn't make the news then I doubt it was major. God knows everyone's waiting for them to screw this up. Like vultures in the desert I am sure the media would have reported something if they could. 'Unknown emergancy causes Air Train to be stranded' heh. Gotta love the media.

I can't wait to use this thing tho. It would save us so much time. We normally take the LIRR to Jamaica and then a cab to JFK or LaGuardia. Im sure the taxi people aren't thrilled about this at all!

Oh yeah.. and MTA folks are angry about them firing Elevator Watchmen at subway stations.. I think today was the day they were going to hold a demonstration.. maybe that was what it was?

So if it didnt make the news it cant be anything major.

Plus I am sure if it did make the news a lot of people would not be taking it today.

Though FI did take it yesterday afternoon for work and he said its a real nice smooth ride. It feels just like the monorail in Disney
