Aisan or Chinese Brides.. Question on the Invite wording....(or anyone.. Im lost)

Personally neither family is helping pay for the wedding and we'd rather just say 'Together with our parents' sorta thing..

But it's going to be in Chinese & English. Should we revert to formal usage of family names?

Also keep in mind my parents & his parents are divorced. I believe his mother has been married or will be married by our wedding but Im not 100% sure and my father has remarried.

Any thoughts? (anyone even those who just came in here to see the question but not Asian )

Wow, thats a tough one. Maybe you should ask the parents how they would like to be addressed? That would probably avoid some hurt feelings.

On another note, what make up and hair people are you using? I dont know anyone who does Asian (I'm Filipina) make up well. I usually end up with a pink or whitish foundation mask.

I love my Dad to death. It really has nothing to do with money to me. I don't get the 'they didn't pay they don't get acknowledged on the invite' thing.. but I know that's the first thing folks in here think of so I put it out there.

Now I TOTALLY understand parental issues and not putting their names on.

I guess the point is.. I love my Dad and if it were up to me it would say Mr. & Mrs. Dad Lastname... cause I prefer my stepmother not be named.

Conversely.. Jim and his mom are close. But I can't say Mr. & Mrs.. MOM. I guess I could just say just her name..

See this is were I get lost. She's really not a Mrs. and the whole family isnt real 'into' Jim's father having any recongition..

IM SO CONFUSED!!!!

I think that's why someone came up with the 'together with their families' line.
It gets too confusing.

For us, both sets of parents are married, but my mom woudl rather not be named, than be Mrs. dad's name ( nothing agaianst him, jsut wants to have a first name.
And FH's dad doesn't use his real first name, so I think I am just going with together with their parents'

Would that not translate into Chinese properly?
