Aisle Runner Question

Trying to be wedding productive today..

So I want an aisle runner.. a few questions..

Did anyone make them theirselves? Have pictures or advice to share?

Who rolls out the aisle runner and when? Can someone put it there for me when they set up the church?.

Oh and how does it stay in place?

Re: Aisle Runner Question

i ordered mine from 'idooriginals.com' they do monogram runners and have tons of pictures on there. you pick which monogram you want (or you can create your own) and within a period of time they will send you what it will look like. i think the limo guy normally rolls out the runner, so i guess you would give it to him the day of the wedding. i think it adds a nice touch.

Re: Aisle Runner Question

I made my own. I just googled 'scrolls', 'flourishes' and 'monograms' and saved them to my computer. Then, using photoshop, I picked the font and put everything together and printed. I brought the original to Kinko's and for under $5 I had it enlarged. I bought the runner at Michael's (i think it was $20-something). Once I had the monogram enlarged, I rolled out the runner to where I wanted the monogram to go and taped everything down so I could trace it onto the runner without anything moving. After I traced, and this is the VERY important part (i learned the hard way) put wax paper down underneath the runner in all areas that you will be painting. (if you don't, it will stick and you'll end up ripping your runner like I did). Get a small brush and work from the inside of the monogram out. It took me about 4 nights after work to complete the whole thing and it came out really nice. I don't have pics of it on my work computer, but I can add them when I get home. HTH! feel free to FM me with any questions if you choose to DIY!

ETA: The limo guy is in charge of rolling it out. I plan to have FH bring it with him to the church on the morning of, unless we're allowed to leave it at the rehearsal. All churches differ, but mine has made it clear that the runner is to be rolled out beforehand, not just for the bride...HOPEFULLY people will enter the pews from the outside aisles so it doesn't get messed up before the BP walks down. I haven't decided if I want it to be saved yet or not, but I was thinking of designating someone in the family to cut just the monogram part off the runner when the ceremony is over.

added pics: grr. i'll make an album

I didn't realize that the limo company usually has them and they roll them out for you... so you don't have to make one if you don't want to.

This totally relieved me bc I def don't think I could handle that DIY.

But the ones I've seen some girls make on here were beautiful!
