Albums?

Albums?

is anyone not purchasing an album?

I havent started lookint at photographers yet but i was thinking.... do i really need an album? most are nice, none really make me go WOW and frankly.. how often is someone going to look at it? I feel like i'd look at it a few times just after we are married but then after that it is going to sit in a china closet until my kids possibly want to see it.. one time.. Other than that it will be there collecting dust.

I think i might just want photos to put in frames.

Anyone else considering NOT getting an album?

We're getting one, it's very important to us to get one. I'm sure it won't get looked at too much after 3 months but I like knowing I have it. But if you feel that it is something that you don't need, don't get one, there's nothing wrong w/ that

Nope - totally getting one! I love photo albums!

Maybe, just maybe, you can not put it in your contract and after your wedding - maybe you can haggle with your photog to throw it in for free? Maybe a small, traditional 20-30 pic album?

Drink for everytime I said maybe.

Yeah I know I love all my albums and knowing that I have them to look at. But with the cost of the wedding... i feel like its just not going to be that important. But I am jumping the gun.. you are right, I should see how much it's going to cost. I really have no idea since i have yet to start looking

Re: Albums?

but to answer your question...it is expensive for the albums....but to me it is one of the most important things. i look at my parents all the time actually. so theirs has gotten a lot of use out of it. i feel like we are spending so much $ on the wedding we might as well have something to show for it! that is just me though. i understand your thoughts as well. if you didnt get one you could still make your own and that would save you $. or...just dont do parent albums. that will save you about 1K or so (give or take).

I am getting a magzine style layout album, not your traditional album and I would have paid double for it. Pics are so important to me. I still look at the year book from my first year teaching. You have to do whats best for you and if you dont care that much than dont do it, you could even go buy a nice album from like Things Remembered aand put your proofs in there.

Re: Albums?

my albums are probably the msot important thing i am getting from any vendor ( except for the church which is actually marrying us! he he)

i look at my sister's album all the time - and i LOVE my parents' album!!

my brother didnt get any albums - all of his proofs are online so i can look whenever i want. . . but my parents dont have a single picture of his 2003! wedding. they dont use the computer so they can never see the pics or show friends. i think albums are important!!

If you want to save money and you have have a artsy side Or a good eye then ask to have your proofs on cd and do the albums yourself. I know there are a few girls that are just doing that and they found places that really can help you.

Albums are important but if its going to kill your budget it really is not the most important thing to have it printed now. FH and i's married friends didn't even bother to get them and they have been married for five or ten years. Doesn't bother them one bit. They made a scrap book with their proofs and thats what they use.

We weren't going to get an album either, but it was included in our package...but I think I am going to do little parent albums online...some of the girls said that mypublisher.com, and shutterfly.com do awesome albums. It would save you a grand or so....

if your really are looking to save $$$...AND your photographer is giving you all your hi res files...u can probably make one yourself...if youre up for it.

ive seen a lot of diy albums that looked very professional. i like this site http://www.mypublisher.com/

im getting my album done by my photographer because i want special effects and things like that...which i really dont know how to do very well and dont want to take the time to do it...it will be faster is she just does it.

your other option is to take the album out of the package...and just get it later...perhaps use $ from the wedding

and finally....you can save $ (whenever) and have someone do the album for you...i know photographers that will just create your album...as long as you were given reproduction rights to your pics from your original photographer.

Re: Albums?

We are DEFINITELY getting an album. I would rather NOT get a video done if it came down to choosing something to give up on to save some $$$$ -- Which is something I am considering

i'm the type of person who will look at it every day forever and ever. lol...but i understand why you might not want one. besides, you can make one yourself if you're not really that into it but just want to have one.

we aren't getting parent albums, i'm going to make them myself on shutterfly for $40 each. saved $400.
