Re: Aldo
Giving my whole-hearted honest opinion here..
Everyone in Brooklyn thinks they need to use Aldo because everyone else has. lol. I think their reputation is very overrated. They are overpriced, and the friends that have used them haven't exactly been floored by their work. They do have good photographers, but they are known for pushing the combo photo/video thing a lot. They do good video work, but you can definitely find a better videographer at a better price independently. The same can be said for their photographers. Their studios are nice should you need them, but I swear so many people have used them that everyone's pictures are the same. I have three friends with the same picture of them on the motorcycle in the back.
If you want to check out photographers in Brooklyn that are priced better, but do the same style work (studios on premises etc.) check out Precious Times. I would even say you should go to Cassarino instead. They don't have studios, but are so good and have tons of ideas/options for you. I got 10 times better treatment/packages/prices from them than from Aldo.
Wow that was long.

Re: Aldo
T - my friend just used Aldo's in Nov. and she was soooo disgusted with them - she said it was the worst mistake she ever made! And would never recommend them. FI's cousin used them for his wedding and he nearly had a fight w/the guy and his helper because they kept pulling them aside to snap photos - he said they were sooooo intrusive. Plus, their album - was so corny and looked so out of date. Fi's family was trying to get us to go there saying everyone uses them... but, I feel like that doesn't necessarily make them good. I went by they're place to check out photos and they were all posed and all the faces were shiny. I've honestly seen way better pics, IMO. But, that's just me - I don't want all that posed crap - I want more photojournalistic style of pics. One of my friend's lil' sisters works at Precious Times and she said they're good. But, I would definitely look around.... try Cassarino, Patken, other vendors that were mentioned on this site - Good luck sweetie.

Re: Aldo
No problem.
They aren't bad, just think way to highly of themselves IMO. I don't know what Stef's experience was, but they turned me off on the phone before I even went there!

Re: Aldo
Totally agree Crystal! At my friends wedding in September she was miserable because they POSED EVERYTHING. They just wouldn't leave them alone the entire night. Instead of taking pictures, they were constantly telling them where to stand, where to go, how to look, to change the looks on their faces. Really ridiculous stuff. Instead of just 'smile' it was 'look sexy, no, not like that, like this!'. She was so annoyed.
They also managed to get the photographer and his assistant in 1/2 the video. And in one part, the photographer assistant was DANCING.

Re: Aldo
Theresa, I have to disagree w/previous posts. I used Aldo and I loved them. I do wish, however, that there were more candids, but that's something you can talk to them about. I liked the guy we had. He was very efficient, since my church was in Bklyn and my reception was on LI I was concerned about time for pictures. We were in the studio about an hour and we were always moving to the next picture, they were great for getting things done quickly. Also, when we first got to the studio there were a few bridal parties there and I was having a heart attack, but they kept everyone moving w/a very organized system. My bridal party was in and out in 20 minutes! Even though it was quick, my pics came out beautiful! The most important part to me was the grounds of the studio. On our wedding day it poured non stp(good luck...yeah right!) That kind of rain doesn't make for very nice pictures. Their indoor studios are gorgeous. We actually picked them for their outdoor grounds, but we were very lucky to have the option of the indoor ones. They have indoor gardens and beautiful rooms. It is true that they try to get you to use a package w/video too but they don't push. We used a different video guy. All in all, I was very happy with their work! I still have to post my proofs..... Godd luck and let me know if you have questions!

Re: Aldo
Theresa-
My FSIL used them for her wedding. I didn't think the pictures were anything special. Same with the video. I know my FSIL wasn't too happy with them b/c they showed up a half-hour late to her house so that made everything run late from the church to the cocktail hour to the reception. But that just my opinion We missed a lot of the reception b/c we had to take so many family pictures. I swore from that day on that I would never be pulled out of my reception to take pictures. That's the first thing I told our photgrapher.

My friend had a meeting with them, and she liked the pictures but they were extremely overpriced. She said starting price was $10,000.

Re: Aldo
Boosh - maybe there are two Aldos. Aldo was the cheapest photographer I looked at. I think their prices were in the $2K range for 1 photographer and an album.

Re: Aldo
I played phone tag with them for 3 months and when I finally got them on the phone they were very nasty and kept pushing me to come and see them instead of talking to me over the phone first. If you are looking for someone in Bklyn, I would recommend Marcy Studio (I booked them). Chuck (the owner) is wonderful. He is the actual person coming to photograph my wedding. He gave us alot for our money including an engagement sitting. We are not using the studio because we want to take our pictures at the Manor East and that was no problem with him. I am also getting my Limos from him. He gave us a wonderful deal because we were already using him for photography. If you want to know exactly what wis in our package and prices, send me a forum.
