aliciahelene (adoption/your sister) - please come in
Hi there. I read your story on adoption and just want to say I admire you and your DH so much. You are both wonderful people. I have always said I would want to adopt even if I could have my own. I just read one of your postings that your sister had 4 miscarriages in a row. I have had two in row and am going for testing. I am so afraid they will find out the same thing, too many chromosomes. I know IVF can work and we would do that but insurance does not cover it in NYS I don't think. I don't want to jump the gun yet as we still have to go for testing but I did think of this and then when I read your post about your sister, it made me wonder if this could be happening with me and my DH. Anyway, just wanted to say I am so glad it worked for your sister and I wish you and DH all the best on getting your boys

rdaley..Thank you so much!!! It can work for you!! I believe it was called a PGD, they actually take out the bad stuff and see what develops, they had five embryos that did, so they transferred two in, one took..thats my beautiful godson who is 9 months now..then she went last month and they transferred in two more, she is now pregnant with twins, so they still have one left in the'freezer', it sounds bad, but they plan to have that transfer done as well. She literally went through hell and she found a wonderful place. They do offer loans for IVF, whcih I have no interest in..but they are out there so that people can conceive. I always said I wanted to adopt along with my biological children..so now Ill just be adopting without having biological children..and we are great with it! There is a mourning process that goes with it, I was sad, depressed, we had our children pictured, their personalities, etc..so knowing that they wont exist was hard to swallow at first..but once you start seeing these children and reading about what they go through..it is truly an amazing process and your heart will just melt. If you ever have questions about adopting..please let me know. I promise you I have EVERY brochure from every agency in the nation involving domestic and international adoption, I really did my research on every country and agency and I feel that prayers led us to Ethiopia. Anyhow, thanks for your kind words and let me know if you have any questions or if you need more info on my sisters process. Im sorry that you had two miscarriages, I know that must be horrible, I saw what it did to my sister and I know it sucks BAD, but have faith that there are AWESOME doctors out there who can get you pregnant. We chose NOt to do IVF, because I feel that these children out there will never get adopted, they are older, etc and I truly believe that they will be my children and I will be there mom and I dont feel that I need to give birth to them for us to be family. What works for me , may not work for others...but thank God there are so many options available to all of us, IVF, adoption, foster care, the resources are unlimited, so you can choose what works best!! Its great! Let me know how your testing goes and please let me know if you have any questions, or if you need me to ask my sister anything. My sister was not ok with adopting, she wanted to give birth to her children and its a great thing she fought for what she wanted because my nephew is a god sent, so cute and now there are two more on the way. Dont lose hope..you can have what you want!!!

I just want to add that PGD is actually when they genetically analyze your embryos to find the 'normal' ones. This reduces the chance of a chromosomally abnormal embryo being put back into the uterus. Courtney Cox did this too.
Aliciahelene, I also admire your determination to adopt.
Dh and I are not ready to think about it.
On to my 5th IVF in January!

Thanks, I will keep you all posted. Please do the same. I agree with you, you do not need to be a mommy to give birth nor a biological father to be a daddy! Good luck to us all. I may come back to you re your sister depending on my test results.
