I dunno what's better because I never had All Clad, but I got a set of Calphalon for xmass and they are outstanding. Not one complaint.

eta: I like the customer reviews on Amazon.com, maybe try those?

they are both excellent brands. Of course if you get a cheaper set you will probably need to replace them sooner.

Personally, I've been very happy with the All Clad. Both brands have sets in lots of price ranges.

All Clad is the best and most expensive. Calphalon is a close second and in my opinion nicer to look at..

I chose all clad, b/c i liked the way they looked.

The salesman at the store told me not to get calphalon b/c it has some carcinogenic in it. supposedly Dupont had to make a big court settlement over it. I dont know how accurate this is as I have not looked into it myself. But we could prob just search online and find out if it is true.

I personally have a thing agaist calphalon b/c i had a roomate in college who was forever yelling at us for using the silverware to stir the contents of the pots. I always pick at the food that is cooking with whatever utensil i can find, be it silver or plastic, so these would not work well with me.

Happy shopping

In our opinion its worth the extra money for certain things, pots are one of them. All Clad is made in the USA and built with better quality(calphalon built in china)....Just be sure to get stainless pots, no need for non-stick except for one 10 inch fry pan for eggs. That non stick stuff scratches off and you might digest it!!!!

Not if you use silcone or wooden spatulas or spoons

Do you think they would keep them on the market if they had a carcinogenic in it? I'm sure it has been fixed. At least i really hope so.

Thanks for your advice!

We registered for Calphalon originally, then changed to All Clad once my aunt, the cook in the fam, suggested it.

They're pricey though...

Re: All Clad or Calphalon?

non-stick pans are tricky they say that the fumes that come off a pan if you burn food could be dangerous as well. Time and use in general can remove the coating even if you just use wooden spoons. We purchased all clad stainless and one 10 inch non stick fry pan for eggs. Do a search on dupont and non stick fry pans. Alot of talk on what the dangers are and court cases going on as we speak.
