i'm thinking about booking at giorgio's the price per person is within my range but i thought that the gratuity was more than other reception halls.
i was wondering if people could forum mail me what they were quoted for gratuity charge for giorgio's?
i really like the place but i think the gratuity charge is way too much. is that negotiable?
Thanks.

Re: all giorgio's brides...question?
i may be of some help. I am not having my reception their but my cousins did lat august. I dont know what the paid as their gratuity charge but on top of that they had to tip the matradee &captain (shared tip) and the bridal attendant. They paid $600 for th matradee and captain but they had like $250 people they say avg. tip for the is 2-3 per person (i plan on tipping $300 for them and i am having 150 people) HOWEVER my cousins was really pissed because they made them pay the tip in advance and they feel their matradee did not deserve as much as they had to pay, where as in other places you dont tip till the day and it is at your discretion
again if it is of any help i am tipping my bridal attendant $50 (recommended my my RH) and the matradee/captain $300 .

Re: all giorgio's brides...question?
If you are talking about the gratuity charge on your contract its actually called a service charge~this will vary depending on you minimum and will go up if you have more guests then the minimum. It will vary depending on how many people you have guaranteed and your price per person since its based on a % of your total. Its normally 18% but can go up to 21%
The tip on the other hand has nothing to do with this, you tip like the PP said. But that shouldnt be quoted by the hall or decided on by them~you wouldnt tip until the day of

Most of the reception halls that I visited charged a 20% gratuity charge.

I got married there and I don't remember exactly how much it was but I know it was average to all other quotes we got.

Re: all giorgio's brides...question?
Its 18% - I just checked my final bill. That is about the same as all other halls!
Also we were kind of shocked about the maitre d tip that was due up front...but oh well. We had a great day!

Re: all giorgio's brides...question?
We visited a lot of reception sites, and Giorgios was very similar to other sites as far as their gratuity charge was concerned. We choose Giorgios because the food was fabulous, the location is quite, and you get an hour and 1/2 cocktail hour which most other places don't offer. If you think the gratuity is a bit high, see if they will lower your price per person to make up some of the difference. They have been so wonderful. We have to reschedule our wedding due to an illness and they didn't give us any problems, they were amazing. They are very accommodating...if you love Giorgios I say go with it.

Re: all giorgio's brides...question?
Thanks for all the input ladies.
Most places I have seen were 18-20% for the service charge and it was higher than that. I was making sure it wasn't the standard for Giorgios.
So I guess I have to negotiate it. i didn't sign the contract yet so well see how it goes. Things being so expensive as they are, I can't afford that extra percentage.
I hope I could negotiate it because I really do like Giorgios. I always feel awkward trying to negotiate, though.

So your saying there asking more than 20%?

yeah more than 20%. all the halls i've been to have asked for 18% so I thought that was way high.
