ALL KINDS OF PURCHASES!

ALL KINDS OF PURCHASES!

Remember how I was going to sensibly shop for the nursery? I DIDN'T!!!!!!!

Instead I went to Rumrunner Kids in East Hampton and ordered the bedding, glider AND crib! Okay let me soften the blow though....

I bought a floor display crib and glider - both were 15% off with an additional 10% off for storewide sale. The crib is a rough white FOUR POSTER it's so beautiful! Of course, it doesn't turn into a toddler bed, so I'll deal with that expense when the time comes....

The glider is beautiful - like a patchwork but of all kinds of flowers. and the bedding is Shabby Chic all roses and pretty flowers!

I know - I blew it...now I have to buy my bassinet on ebay.... make up for a couple of bucks here and there! But I am so relieved really - it's all being delivered (and assembled) so I saved on tax which is great (shipping to Jersey) - I just feel great to have something DONE!

EDITED: How long can I stuff baby into a crib? Until she's ten? (that would make the cost worth it...) - seriously though - a couple of years at the most?

ALSO: Would you buy a bassinet on ebay or would you be grossed out?

Wow... you got lots of stuff... I'm so jealous! I still haven't bought anything except for books yet...

But I wouldn't buy baby things from ebay... I just don't really trust the quality. I would rather look around at second hand shops or get an inexpensive one at babies r us or something like that.

Wow! Sounds like some beautiful stuff! I can't waitto see pictures!

And to answer your question... I would be a tiny bit skeeved by an eBay bassinet, but then again, everything skeeves me.

There are some cute but inexpensive ones out there if you are looking to balance the $$ you've already spent, or maybe you can borrow one from a friend or relative. I'd happily lend you mine, but my Lima Bean will still be sleeping in it when your baby arrives.

I think its worth buying a new bassinet. With shipping costs and all Im sure you wont get one under $25 on ebay anyway. and a new one should be around $50 (at the least).
I think saving money makes more sense to do on big ticket items (well you blew that opportunity )

Dont feel guilty, your shopping by emotion, purely what a mommy does by nature for her children!

OK, you must post pics!!!!! The crib sounds absolutely beautiful!!! Your daughter is one lucky girl!!

You can always get a 2nd mortgage or hope that baby #2 is a girl, too!! HEHE!!

As for the bassinet, I agree w/ the other ladies!! Buy a new one... they're not that expensive, although...

I'd lend you mine, but it's literally on its last leg... Sean was baby #6 in my family to start his life in it and we'll be lucky if it makes it for his brother or sister!! He/she may have to start out in a dresser drawer!

aw - I always know I can count on you guys to rationalize me out of a spending spree!

I am not buying the bassinet on ebay - it grosses me out. So I am on the hunt today for a reasonable one. (which I am NOT good at!!!) But I will report back!

Where are the PHOTOS
Good for you... I cannot wait to see everything.
Now you have to buy your changing table on ebay too Just kidding...Pottery Barn has the cutest bassinet white with a pink bow- very simple. I got a 'functional' bassinet, as I call it as opposed to fluffy and frilly.
It has a little mobile, has a vibrate button (like the bouncy seat), a light, basket underneath and plays music. It was not a very expensive one IMO and it looks really cute up in our room.
Now I REALLY want a Moses Basket which has ZERO function but is so darn cute...

I love the Pottery Barn one. I do have a little sister, so I keep telling myself that I can recycle all this stuff a few times over! I think I might order that today....

I still have the changing table/dresser and armoire left to go. I'd better go play the lottery!

Re: ALL KINDS OF PURCHASES!

Jenny, maybe you show reconsider buying the bassinet..is your bedroom large enough to fit the crib for now? I had a bassinet and I cannot believe how quickly she grew out of it.

She used it MAYBE all of two months....she was touching the sides and didn't like to feel all closed in. Believe it or not I brought it back to BRU and they took it!

Re: ALL KINDS OF PURCHASES!

my bedroom is too small for even my husband to fit!!! We stuffed this overlarge bed in there, and there isn't an ounce of wallspace left. I am going to have to get a bassinet....I am going to post a poll for a vote on what I found!
