My brother & sister in law are coming up in May- their first time in NYC!!! We're so psyched! They are young (28 & 21) and we want to do some really great but 'NYC' things with them...
here are my thoughts- and please add, OK?
Yankee Game w. a ride on the Yankee Clipper to get there on the river.
Dinner in Little Italy (La Mela's with a bunch of friends)
Drinks at Tao
Dinner at Great Jones Cafe
Live music on Bleecker Street
See De La Guarda or Stomp

I told DH about the Today show thing (since I watch it every morning) but I don't know if we can wake up that early

What about a taping of The Late Show or the Daily Show?
Avenue Q is a great funny show.

Well, I'm not too chic, but...
Dinner (or dim sum) in Chinatown! My favorite for dinner is Sun Lok Kee (on Pell, I think). Great food but you have to sit at a table with other folks (just a warning).
A walk over the Brooklyn Bridge to B'klyn Heights.
Blue Man Group (if the show's still open!)
A stroll around the old West Village... all the weird, crooked streets.
I'll probably think of more...

What about taking in a Broadway show? You can always get same day tickets at the booth on 48th and B'dway.

Soho is another great place to visit (if it hasn't been mentioned). A lot of really great shops. Also try the Meatpacking District, there a some great night spots over there.

I'm from here and I still like to do those things! Esp. the W. Village walks...FH hates window shopping. Once the weather picks up I'm going to do that again.
Also maybe see about going to MoMA Queens? Museum of Nat'l History or M. of Modern Art?

I don't live in NY anymore, but you can't go to NY and not go to a show.

Yes! Have to see a show! Unless they're not show types... If anything, I think it's actually best to go to a Sat. afternoon show, and go out to dinner and some sort of bar after that. Weekend night shows are really booked.

All of the ideas are great so far - what about
-taking them to Suede or Eugene or champagne at Flute - Someone mentioned Avenue Q but I've heard Wicked is good too. - I was just reading about Movieaoke - like karoake but you act out lines from movies - any museum - Bronx Zoo -window shopping on 5th

Re: All the NYC-Chic Girls...
definetly go to Grimaldis in Brooklyn for pizza- right near the River Cafe underneath the Brooklyn Bridge.
Awesome pizza and a great spot to take pics

Oops, I meant Mott St. Couldn't remember exactly which street it's on!
Thought of another: walk around Chelsea and stop by all the little art galleries there. Some very interesting and quirky stuff!
