All these cancellation horror stories...

All these cancellation horror stories...

Have me worried. So I started thinking..what if when we submit our final HC to JT we subract 5. That way if people cancel at the last minute or don't show up at all we won't be out too much money. We will still keep the money aside for our 'real' HC so there are no surprises the day of...

FH thinks its a good idea, but raised the question of submitting th seating arrangements..I haven't thought out all the details

Do u think this could work? Or is it a very bad idea that is bound to backfire in my cheapo face?

it didn't work for me because I'm a dummy head and gave them the correct seating chart by accident. But you should definitely do it. My matire'd told me they could refund money but it would take about a week. To avoid all of that, subtract the number of people you feel comfortable with and give JT your revised numbers, including seating chart (missing the 5 people because they will count how many ppl are at each table...that's where I messed up and got busted ). Give them the real chart at the last minute or you can just tell your guests verbally what table they'll be at (it would probably be easier if you left your parents or siblings off and added them later to avoid guest confusion) and then let the RH know the day of that there are extras. I've heard from a few brides that they didn't even get charged for the extra people. I guess think of it like they rsvp'd no but showed up anyway. They'll make a plate for them...just make sure you have a seat available for them at the table.

There have been a few threads on the 2010 boards about this topic within the past 2 days. See if you can find them and see what the other brides have to say and how they went about doing it.

Doh! U forgot to give them ur cooked books.lol.

Okay, so I get what ur saying about leaving family members off to avoid guest confusion..it would have taken me a while to think of that one on my own. That way guest won't feel mistreated. Great advice. Thanks so much, I whill check other threads.

I think you are going to set yourself up for a headache at the last minute. If you dont give them the correct seating chart and all these people do show up then the hall is scrambling at the last minute to move seating around to make sure there is full seating for everyone. That is going to leave a bad impression with your guests because they will think the hall screwed up and not you giving the wrong head count.

Be honest with the hall and say listen I have X amount of people that are not sure if they are coming. I will give you the full (correct) seating chart but if they dont show please dont charge me for them.

Trust me you dont want to worry about guest seating on your wedding day.

I now that JT as least is going to make you pay for EVERYONE on your seating chart, regardless of whether or not you think they'll actually show up.

I was originally thinking about giving JT a lower head count, but I don't really want a giant heachache the day of my wedding. I'm just hoping that there aren't too many people that flake out!

I didn't even bother doing this. We didn't have any cancellations or no shows so it worked out fine.

I had 9 people not show up to my e-party last week, after we paid for them. I was thinking of doing something like this too, but I don't want it to cause more stress. I guess we'll see.
