ALL WEDDING TAXES!

ALL WEDDING TAXES!

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the site, but not to life, and I'm thinking that this vendor might be trying to pad the bill. Let me know what you think please.

Can you be charged a 21% service charge for the facility site fee?

Can you be charged sales tax for the Bartender's fee?

Sincerely,

gentils

in my experience, there was no facility tax or bartender fee tax. in our contract there was an 18% gratuity added on to the cost per head and sales tax. that's it. the bartender's tip was included within the 18%. any additional tips were up to our discretion. We left $2.00 - $3.00 per guest for the maitre'd at the end of the night.

however, my place was just a catering hall. are you getting married at a golf course, country club, garden, something like that? maybe they are allowed to charge for those things?

Mines 20% plus taxes plus an 800 site fee which I was able to get down some.

Wait, they are charging you a 'service charge' on the 'site fee'? That sounds a little nuts to me. What do they need to 'service' for the site fee??The service charge is usually on the guests' per head charges - i.e., if you have 100 guests at $100, they would charge a 18% service charge on the $10,000 per person charges. The site fee would just be added to that total fee.

I have never heard of being charged sales tax for the bartender fee. I think you are right, they are trying to pad the bill. But that's JMO. I would ask them before you book to explain every fee in detail (especially that bartender's fee) and add that no other hall charges that fee....
good luck!!!
