can you translate 'to thine own self be true' for me?!

i can't find a consistent translation anywhere! please help :)

I don't speak Italian...

However, I had to have my invitations also done in French and what I learned is that a lot of times sayings in English really don't make sense when you translate them. I would ask someone that really speaks Italian and not just someone that learned it in school.
