Allergies?

Allergies?

For the past 2 years, every April-ish and September-ish, I get a sore throat, which is never strep. Which turns into laryngitis, then stuffy/runny nose, then sinus pressure and then finally a productive cough that takes weeks to go away. The same pattern every time. Oh, and swollen glands. No fever.

MD intially said he thought it was allergies. I didn't think it was. But he did a 'Northeast allergy profile' on me and nothing came back positive. I never had seasonal allergies before.

SO ***?!? I'm so miserable for so long twice a year, and I don't know what to do about it!

Have you ever seen an ENT? I use to get the same thing as you and my doctor would say it was just allergies....then someone suggested I see an ENT and I did, turns out I had to have my adnoids removed and had cysts in my nose. Since the surgery, I haven't gotten sick!

My eyess suffer. I get blisters on my eyes its nasty and hurts like beast. I have a special drop that they gave me which you are only supposed to use once a day but I need to use it like 4x atleast and they sometimes give me steroid drops. It ***** and it lasts all spring, summer and into fall. and now I think my 6yr old is getting it b.c his eyes have been bothering him too.

def get it checked out. I have seasonal allergies and those are the majority of the sympthoms (stuffy nose, hives, sore throat, itchy eyes etc.) I was put on Zyrtecs and I am ok now. Have you taken any medication so far this year?

you should try going to an allergist or an ENT specialist.

Claritin is crap. I take Zyrtec and Sudafed which provides som relief, but not much... for instance, I took Zyrtec when I got hom from class and now instead of the snot pouring from my nose freely, it's just dripping controllably so I have time to blow my nose.

What made me think it's not allergies are the swollen glands, laryngitis and productive cough, but are those things that you ladies experience with seasonal allergies?

It hadn't occurred to me to see a specialist, I might just do that. Thanks!

That used to happen to me too, I felt like I was sick all the time. I know this sounds crazy, but often it would start as allergies, and somehow turn into a cold. I just outgrew it. What about a nasal spray?
