Allergies are kicking my a$$ ...advice please!

Ok so within the last 2 years I've definitely developed airborne allergies...I've only had food allergies when I was younger so this is new to me. I just got medical insurance (via the hubby) so I haven't gone to an allergist yet but I feel HORRIBLE...I get these horrible headaches and a feeling of congestion right behind my eyes and next to my nose every day. I can barely keep my eyes open. Originally I thought I kept getting sick but when mentioning it to people they say it's allergies.

My downfall...I'm not allowed to take ANYTHING with pseudoephedrine (decongestant) which means that blocks out just about every allergy medicine (and cold medicine whenever I get sick ) This ***** so bad because I can kinda deal when I'm sick and I just wait it out, but I feel horrible just about every day I can't deal with this.

Are there any other allergy remedies that don't involve pseudoephedrine?

Sorry so long...

did you ever try the allergy drops? I used them....and they were fantastic!!! it is the same thing as the shots but it is a few drops under your tongue every morning instead

I feel your pain. Why can't you take pseudoephedrine?

I agree - I don't think it has that ingredient - most allergy meds that do not have 'D' (e.g., Claritin-D, Allegra-D) in the name are probably alright - but check drugs.com to be sure.

I have some heart issues that would end up being dangerous for me if I took that.

No, it also has pseudoephedrine in it. Basically anything that is a decongestant has that in it

Yes you're correct but the only problem with that is The 'D' is what I need lol...my only symptoms are major headaches and congestion of which the headaches I can just take extra strength advil and that works but the congestion seriously just kills me.

I take singulair

I don't believe that it has pseudophedrine in it because it is actually an asthma med that treats for allergies as well...good luck

I'm sorry, I dont' really know what else you can take, but I will say 'I hear ya on the allergies' Some days I wake up and I can barely move my head. Uggghhh.
I hope you find something that helps.

I can't take anything with pseudo - whatever in it either. It gives me palpitations. But I will say if you take any allergy medicine without it like Claritin ( without the D ) and you let it build up in your system for a week to ten days it WILL help.

The D part blocks your symptoms for a short time but the anthistamine part is what actually stops your body from reacting to the pollen or whatever you are allergic to. It just takes a while to build up and actually work without the other medicine to mask your symptoms

Good Luck!
