Almost a traumatic story (long)

So Sunday night early Monday morning my phone rings and it is my sister crying hysterically. She tells me that my gram's neighbor's house is on fire. My gram lives in a row of townhouses, so there is not much separating each home. I start freaking out and ask how my gram is, is she ok?? Then it hits me.........MY WEDDING DRESS IS BEING STORED AT MY GRAM'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My sister is like OMG we didn't even think about it, I am hysterical now!! Well it took me 1/2 hour to get to my gram's and when I got there they tell me that they ran up to a fireman and told him that there was a wedding dress in a certain bedroom and is there any way that they can get to it? Well when my mom came walking up the street they came out and handed her my dress!! It was saved before the fire got too bad. The bag has a slight smoke smell, but the dress does not have any smell at all!! My gram is ok, she could save some things but her place got too much smoke and water damage for her to live there again. My gram felt so bad for me but it could have been replaced if it had to be, thank the firemen!!!!!! At least nobody was hurt!!

OMG!! I can't even IMAGINE how you must have felt! I'm so glad that your dress was saved and your Grandma is okay!!!

oh god, your poor grandma.... That is so traumatizing, especially for someone who is elderly and had so many memories. Hate to say it, the dress could have be replaced much easier than the photo albums and other priceless momentos.....

I hope she can recover and restore more of her belongings

omg, what a terrible story! i'm so glad that everyone (especially your gram!) is okay though. i hope some of her stuff wasn't too terribly damaged from the smoke and water!!

Glad no one was hurt! And it's wonderful that they saved your wedding dress, but I'm so sorry for your grandmother's house.

OMG!! I'm so glad that everyone was ok, and no one was hurt and also that the firemen were able to also rescue your dress

I'm glad your grandmother is ok!!! we had a fire when I was 5, and we lost our house......it's definitely traumatic!! I hope your grandmother can still save some of her belongings!
