Well, im an idiot. I got a phone call this morning from '21st Century Today's Bride'. They called and told me i won a 3 day vacation to 1 of 15 locations, $500 gift card to some company i never heard of and 40% off their own merchandise.all we had to do was attend some 90 minute cooking show at a hotel on long island (or by laguardia airport, whichever was more convenient) where they showcase their special pots and pans, and just give our opinions on them- 'no pressure to purchase anything!' I should've, at the very least, been skeptical; instead, I called my fiance and asked which show we should go to. 10 seconds later, he had emailed me several complaints about the company. So glad im marrying someone so much smarter than i am.
I called them back to ask where they got my info from, and they werent able to tell me. Finally, i said 'no thanks, my fiance was smart enough to look you up and realize that this is a scam', they got nasty on me and hung up
Cant believe i almost fell for it.

Hey..I got the same call. They said they got my info from my subscription to Modern Bride.
I actually RSVPd but I never went because FH and I were a little skeptical. You actually confirmed it.

hows this one- i dont subcribe to any wedding magazines, and i havent been to any bridal showcases or store promos... i have no clue where they got my info from
in any event, like i said, im glad my fiancee was smart enough to be Very skeptical

I got the same one stating that I won it at a bridal expo at the Marriott!!! I wasn't there on the date she mentioned, I was in the hospital recuperating from surgery!!!
that happened to me too. they said i entered their contest at the expo at the marriot as well. i googled them before i called them back....many complaints! definately spread the word.. i read that so many couples got suckered for thousands of dollars and ruined their credit!

Bumping because questions about this scamming company come up on this board every month or so......
My best was when they called me and DH knew right away who they were and tried to sell them stuff from his company and they gave him the runaround. So he told them we would show up to their 'seminar' when they sign up for his company's services!!! Needless to say they hung up!!

i actually went to this thing this morning. they gave us our voucher for our free hotel room and 500 gift certificate to some online store. they showed us their products and the pots and pans were amazing but we were kinda broke. if we would've bought that, we could've gotten a 5 day trip to cancun for free, just pay 40 bucks per day for all inclusive. which sounded great. im glad we didnt sign with anything if they suck.
why do people hate them?
