UPDATE: went to the doctor yesterday and was officially diagnosed with Alopecia Areata. Now I have to wait 3 weeks before I see a Derm because she is backed up and start some type of treatment I hope I am not bald for my wedding :(
I am going to the doctor next week as soon as my insurance kicks in. Right now I am having intense tingling sensations on my scalp. I heard a 'rumor' that the sensations occur before more hair loss :(

I had the same problem and I did the steroid shot and it wasn't that bad. It only hurt for a few seconds than it was gone. My hair did grow back after the shots.

Re: for those following my alopecia nightmare
I've had alopecia about 3 or 4 times in the past 5 years. i found that cortisone injections into the scalp worked best for me. i'm so sorry this is happening to you. i know how stressful it is (esp. when docs and ppl keep telling you NOT to stress). but don't worry, it'll grow back~!
