Mike and I have been together for over 9 years. We met when I was 14. We have only been married a month. I know that he want's a baby. He says it everyday. I would like one to. We are kind of trying with the feelings if it happens it happens if it doesn't it doesn't. Did anyone else feel like strange with their parents I now I sound lke a 12 year old but Whenever someone gets pregnant on their honeymoon or shortly after my dad always passes the comment 'they didn't wait to long!' I am almost embarresed to get pregnant because of it I dont want people to including him to say that about me I might be crazy.
Do any of you say this when someone gets pregnant right away!

Re: Alright what are your thoughts?
FH and I had this talk the other night after we told FMIL we wanted to TTC right after the wedding she said 'Oh why don't you wait' My question to all those people is wait for what? If you have been togehter and done all you want to do and are ready, Why wait!

Re: Alright what are your thoughts?
I dont know if there is something specific that they are staying to wait for. I think that especially when it comes from parents, they are saying it because having a child changes your life completely. Your lifestyle, your priorities, your spending habits, your time with your friends, everything. And not that they are saying we havent thought of this, but honestly as much as I think of how much my life will change when I have a baby, I really have no idea of what will truly happen until the baby arrives. Parents do know, how it affected them.
And as a friend told me, once you become a parent, you are a parent for life. There is no turning back, you only have a short time to be a newlywed and just truly enjoy yourself and your DH. So why rush?
I feel its a really personal decision. But whatever you decide you have to be 100% prepared for the consequences that come with it. No one can make that decision for you. Its not a matter of age, time together, amount of past travel, or amount of money in the bank. How each person determines if they are ready is their own thing.
Good Luck and know that it doenst matter what your dad or your friends say, you and your DH are the ones who will have the responsibility of caring for, raising, providing for and loving this child. SO if you two are ready thats ALL that matters!

Posted by kissy27 Someone could pass the same comment if you have your 2nd child quickly after the first...I say go for it!
THis is soooo true! I am in fact the guilty party! When My SIL got pregnant with my nephew, my neice was just 11 months old! We all thought she was nuts!
But she has 2 beautiful kids and she is a great mom!

Re: Alright what are your thoughts?
You know,I'm feeling the same way lately and I thought I was acting immature. I'm nervous about TTC and what my parents might say about me being pregnant. We've been married for 2 years now and live in a one bedroom co-op. I always have to 'hear it' from my parents~especially my father~how I should have a house, save more money...blah, blah, blah. Our baby planning would be more enjoyable if I didn't have the 'disappointed looks' imprinted in the back of my mind. I know that everyone can give the advice~it's your family, you know when you're ready but it's always good to have the support of your family (minus the looks).
