ALS Walk

ALS Walk

Hello ladies. I'm not really sure if this is allowed on the boards, but I thought I would give it a shot.

My grandmother was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) a few years ago. She has been doing really well and has only recently showed signs of declining. She is not able to walk and has difficulty using her hands.

Yesterday I was told that at her last checkup she was diagnosed as terminal. Her condition has declined so much that she is now considered a full blown ALS patient.

There is currently no cure for this disease. I spent a great deal of time this weekend regretting my decision to have my wedding next summer because there is no telling what condition she will be in then or if she will even be alive. We are very close and I'm having a hard time dealing with this right now.

However, the ALS Association has been extremely helpful to my grandmother and the rest of my family as we deal with this on a daily basis. On September 14th at Eisenhower Park there will be a walk to raise money for ALS. The ALSA is the only national noy-for-profit voluntary organization whose sole mission is to find a cure for ALS and improve living with it.

If you would be interested in walking with my family or making a donation please contact me through forum mail.

If this is not allowed on the boards, please ignore and thank you for letting me let 'talk'.
Love,
Pam
