Also, what are the no's during pregnancy?

Sorry to bombard with questions, but what can't you do or eat during pregnancy. I have heard to stay away from alcohol, sushi, coffee, baths, processed foods/meats, saccahrin, but what do you all stay away from and am I missing anything important?

You can have one cup of any caffeinated drink a day. You can eat sushi, as long as they are not with raw fish. California, avocado and eel rolls are still safe.

Unpastarized cheeses are another thing to stay away from. Mozarella and brie are the main offenders. Although a little bit of it on a sandwish once in a while will not do any harm. As long as you don't eat a pound evry day

You can take baths, as long as they are not hot, but regula temperature. Actually, I read that later in pregnancy they are very comforting and help with cramps and backpain.

I still eat coldcuts. I buy them from a reputable place that I have been going to for years. Everything there is very fresh because they have a very high turnaround. As long as you know and trust the source, it's fine.

Thank so much! The idea of not eating cheese is too depressing to think about....

No herbal teas or herbal remedies, use tylenol only as pain reliever, no unpasterized foods (milk, cheese, etc).

You can have coffe, but drink de-caf, after 20 weeks you can have a glass of wine, and you can eat deli meats, they just warn about meats that have sat out for a while because it poses the risk of listeria.

p.s- most of the cheeses here are pasteurized, even feta and definitely mozzerella, you can eat these, just make sure that it says it is made with pasteurized milk. If you went out of the country alot of the cheeses are unpasterurized.

My doctor also told me: absolutely no alcohol the first 3 month. Then some red wine is allowed.

I can't remember why the 3 months mark, but I think it's considered the highest risk and the time when the baby is developing at the highest rate, going from literally a bean to a fetus.

Well, I drank one cup of coffee each day, took a bath most days, ate cold cuts all of the time, and even had soda now and then. The only things my dr. told me were important were no raw fish, no tuna or swordfish, only take tylenol for pain, no jacuzzi tubs, no alcohol ever.

I was under the impression that mozerella is fine - I just looked it up and it seems to be OK.

It is the fresh mozzarella that is not good....Polly-O is fine because it is made with pasturized milk

yes mozzerella is fine even the fresh, it is all made with pasteurized milk, the italian stores rarely carry the kind that is made with un-pasteurized milk, it runs the risk of ecoli and many other health concerns. Usually, 'speciality' cheese stores carry the unpasteurized cheeses, but otherwise, I have NEVER seen any cheese (other than some bries) that are unpasteurized that you can buy in the US, there would be alot of sick kids, elderly, and immune-compromised people due to cheese consumption. Igt must meet the FDA guidelines and those guidelines gere in the states are very strict.

yep, just as long as the cheese is pasterized, we are fine! the problem is that a lot of soft cheeses, especially imported brie, are not. Just need to check.

i personally like to get my lunch from Au Bon Pain. I check the ingredient and all the roast beef and brie sandwitches they make is from pasterized cheese. Yum!
