Alteration Experiences with David's Bridal

So I found the perfect dress for me on the first try at David's Bridals. The dress will be in 9/28...but I've heard some horror stories with their alterations and also that their alterations are VERY overpriced. Does anyone have any input on this??

They wanted $75 to hem a dress so I took my bridesmaid dress to my local dry cleaner and she did it for $15.

I was in a wedding where the bride got her dress at David's...

The ripped the tool on her dress..we were there when she found out and there were two other brides crying b/c they screwed up the alterations..

Some 08 brides had some difficulty there as well..

If you love the dress..get it there but bring it somewhere else to have it altered..

I'll have to agree... I got my dress and alterations at David's Bridal...

The first time I went in the hem wasn't propertly stitched back up so my beads and crystals were falling off of it. They did the bustle incorrectly and it wasn't taken all the way in on the sides.

The second time I went in, they took in the sides SO much that I couldn't fit into it!

Not to mention its just a hassle to get the alterations people, there are only certain times you can pick it up and it was really expensive...

the only plus side of doing them there as far as i know is that if they mess up the dress they have to replace it

That was the only reason I did it with them. How funny that when I told the seamstress that they should replace my dress because they messed it up, she laughed and said David's Bridal doesn't do that...

The one in Queens.

I bought my dress in LI, and they were nice to work with. There are two locations in LI, one is good, the other not as much. I can't seem to remember the names off the top of my head...

I'm hoping that since my dress is simple, they won't mess it up!!!

i bought my dress from the one in Queens, had the alterations done there too. the alterations were about the same as the dress!!!!!$400!!!!! i dont remember all it needed but i remember thinking damn i just got robbed.

btw i had them press the dress also and to my horror the day of my wedding i noticed a pull in the fabric (very small, only me and my mom could notice it) it was very heavy satin and the a$$holes must have had some jewelry or something that pulled the dress. i let it go (i wasnt going to let that upset me) but my mom hit the roof and called the manager of that store the next day to give her an earful

I do remember looking at the price list in the fitting room and seeing some pretty high prices!!
Do they actually think we are not going to INSPECT every inch of our wedding dress??? Mine had a spot..upon my inspection so they removed it..but you could still see a tiny little dot..(noone else would ever notice it)...anyway..i made them order me a new one.. i didnt want one that other people tried on anyway!!!
