I need your help with this one! My dress alterations are $427! My basic alteration was capped at $295 and the Bussle was $99 up to 9 points!
On my dress all I need is for it to be taken in at the chest. And then a hem! I am shocked that they maxed it out! I thought it was the most I could pay! How could it be that much? Does that make sense? I understand about the bussle no problem. But I am thinking the basic alterations should be less!
I am thinking of waiting 2 -3 more weeks to go in and try the dress on again and let them do one alteration!
What do you think about being maxed out for $295? Has anyone run into a problem like this similar to mine? I don't really want to go and take my dress and start driving all over town!!
Any advice or suggestions would be helpful!

WOW and I thought MY alterations were expensive at David's Bridal!!! Mine cost me about $200 total for everything!!! That price seems completely insane to me! Maybe you could try calling David's or someplace else to see what they'd charge??

Mine were in the $300 range and all I needed was a hem, and I had 17 bustle points....I was charged $100 for the hem, and then per point for the bustle points.....not sure what a typical cost is for taking in the chest!

did they give you an itemized list of your alterations? my alterations cost in the $300 range also but there was a ton of stuff to be done...i needed a hem, the hips had to be let out, the chest had to be taken in, the straps had to be adjusted and i needed the bussle. i completely maxed out the alterations cap but i felt it was justified since they had to change so much!

I wish it was $200 for everything!!!! I am thinking of calling my bridal place and have it explained to me why a hem and the dress to be taken in at the top could cost $295!!! What do you ladies think?

My whole dress had to be taken in..not a ton..but enough and then a bustle..it's only $140.
They capped my alterations at $295 also...I don't understand how it can be more than that if that's the cap? Plus the 99$..it should only be $394..I'm confused.

No not at all!!! They need to take it in at the chest and it's just a hem. She looked at my receipt where the cap was on alterations and bussle. Added the cap of $295 of basic alterations and the cap on my bussle for $99 plus the tax and it came to $427!..I think there is a correction to be made!!!

yeah, i would definitely talk to them...it seems high. i got my gown and did my alterations at lillettes and they gave me a very detailed itemized list of everything they had to do to the dress. so even though it still cost me $300 at least i could see what i was paying for!!

They aren't supossed to charge tax for alterations..only on the bustle becuase they are adding something to your dress (buttons, strings, etc). The alteration is just labor, so there shouldn't be tax...At least, that's what they told me at my bridal store!

I paid 350 for them to take the dress in 2 sizes and bustle it. Theyre definitely overcharging.

So I called my bridal place and the best they can do is take off $25 off the basic alteration!! They said it was their policy...I really want them to do it, I don't wanna take my dress and bring it somewhere else! I I am very skeptical of bringing it somwhere and never seeing it again!! So frustrating...so I am going back on August 23rd to try my dress on and see how it fits and then have them do the 1st alteration!!
