Ok, I found my dress yesterday, and I didn't order it yet because they wanted 1/2 down, and I wanted to be sure. But how does it work w/ alteration costs? My dress needs only the length brought up, and the top needs to be taken in a bit, and at the hips they need to let it out a bit. I don't want to be charged a fortune for this, and I'm thinking of trying to order the dress from a small salon in my town and let them alter it. Are alterations charged by the amount of work to be done, or how much the dress costs, or is it a flat fee? TIA!

Re: Alteration Questions
they charge by the things needed done- hem, taken in
but most places have a cap on how much they will charge you
I have a cap of $225 which means no matter what I need I wont be charged more then that

Re: Alteration Questions
I think it depends on the salon. At a few places they said that they would cap alterations so that you knew you would not pay anything more than 300, for example. But most places I went to said it was 'a la carte' alterations, so you paid for exactly what you needed.

Re: Alteration Questions
My Bridal Shop capped the alterations at the time of ordering at $125. I believe the alterations came to over $200, but again...I only had to pay the $125. AND it had to be taken in several times! Whoo hoo! Oh and the bussle was NOT included in the cap.
Alterations are based on work that needs to be done and also keep in mind on how detailed the dress it too.

Re: Alteration Questions
Burton's bridal told me it was included in the price of the dress and the only extra would be the bustle.
