Does anyone have a recommendation for a great seamstress to do some alterations on a bridesmaid gown? It needs a decent amount of work, so preferably someone that you trust and have used before -- I've lost about 30 lbs since the dress was ordered! I live in Merrick. TYIA! :)

Alterations unlimited in deer park does good work BUT is a total rep off!! My sister in law to be had them do her sweet sixteen dress all they did was cut the bottom and put cups in thats it...NO STITCHING $195 for basicly no work...
Did she consult with them about the price of alterations before she agreed to let them do the dress? I know when I went (a couple of times now) and when others I know went, they consulted first, then agreed on the price. Also, there was no hem sewn on the dress? Honestly, if that was the case, they should have complained and I think they would've fixed the situation. I've now seen 10 bridesmaids dresses, 3 wedding gowns and 2 MOB jobs done by them and never seen the bottom of the dress just cut. Hopefully she was at least happy with the way it turned out looking on her.
Yes, they did consult about the alterations and she raised the price after the fact. After my Mother in law to be seen what they did all in one visit and it was done that same day she complained about the price and they did nothing..and she informed her that our family has used her for several other events in the past and we have sent friends there and she did not change the price…but we will let everyone know what happened and never recommend them again…AND yes there was no stitching since it was a tulled sweet sixteen dress you can only cut.
Sorry you had a bad experience. Just seems so unlike them. Well, hopefully you've found someone else that you can use in the future.
