I would like to know where you are getting your gowns and how much you are paying for alterations. this will be a great help with my gown search. Please rate your place for service as well thanks a bunch.

Re: Alterations!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only thing I liked about my bridal shop was the woman who did the alterations, but I felt they were very expensive. And they charged me for a halter top that I did not use (I used spaghetti straps instead, b/c the halter made the front of the dress 'buckle')
The cap was $225 for 'usual' alterations, then $40 for spaghetti straps, then another $40 for the halter straps that I did not keep, then $85 for the bustle, then $25 to sew in cups.

If it was not the day before the wedding when my dress was done I would have argued the price a bit more.

Also, I had a Maggie Sotero dress that was a lace up corset, so I had no alterations on the top or waist AT ALL, only the hem

I got my dress from Macy's Bridal Salon in Manhasset and alterations are capped at $175. The bustle charge was $75

ETA: The service was great. Barbara was my consultant and she was very helpful in helping me figure out the best styles for my body type. The manager Charmaine was also helpful.

Re: Alterations!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got my dress at Lillettes in baldwin I think the alterations are 250. But when you hear quotes on alterations make sure to ask if the bustle is included becuase at most places it is NOT and it can be pricy! (it is NOT included at Lillettes)
But I can speak first hand htat I have gotten a few dresses from lillettes and the seamstresses are wonderful! THat is why I got my dress there, and I truly tested their skills when I was in my brothers wedding a few years back! They had to realter it the day before b/c that was the only time I was home from college and I lost like 15+ lbs in 2 months!!!

I was quoted a cap of $180 INCLUDING the bustle at Lidia's in Copiague. They are awesome too. Unfortunately, they can't get the dress I might be getting so I probably won't be getting my gown there... But I highly recommend them!!
