My mom is arguing with me because alterations are not included in the price of my dress. She is insisting that alterations are ALWAYS included, and I'm trying to convince her that they usually aren't. Am I wrong and I'm just getting ripped off?

Mine weren't included, but they were capped.

Re: alterations
They aren't included in the initial price of the dress, but they're written into the contract and are usually capped at a specified amount. So at that point, they could be considered part of the price of the dress. For example, if a dress costs $1,000 and the alterations are capped at $200, some people would say the dress costs $1,200.
I'd say you're both right.

they quoted me the price of the dress and then figured everything out for me at the end. it did not include alterations.

Re: alterations
the price of my dress included the bustle, the cups they put in, and she even took it in a little on the top... but the bridal shop is closing so maybe that's why...

I also think it depends on how much the dress is and how much you can negotiate with the owner/manager. My sister's alterations were included at Lynbrook and her dress was $2500 and that was 6 years ago. But I know others who have spent more and the alterations are capped. I doubt if you are spending less than $1000, that they will throw in alterations.

Re: alterations
my mom almost died when she found out that the alterations were additional to what she already paid for the dress!!! My dress wasn't cheap so she feels that when ure paying that much, they should just suck up the price of the alterations....I told her she was dreaming!!
