Alterations not at your dress salon...

I wasn't thinking when I bought my dress and bought it at a place that's NOT close to home. And with work and my daughter back in school, going there for fitting is just going to be impossible. I'm going to find a place closer to home for fittings.

So my question is, if you bought your dress somewhere and picked it up and took it elsewhere for alterations, was it awkward to pick it up? Did you have to answer why you don't want alterations there? I feel like it'll be weird.

I haven't had this experience but, I don't think its awkward when your situation is what it is. If they ask why, your explanation is more than reasonable, and if they don't like it...well that's their problem, you wont have to go back there.
I think it'd only be awkward if you said you didn't want alterations there because you heard they do terrible work or something like that.
